Mitt Romney, the GOP’s presidential candidate in 2012 and a former governor of Massachusetts, announced Friday that he would run for U.S. Senate in Utah.
“I have decided to run for United States Senate because I believe I can help bring Utah’s values and Utah’s lessons to Washington,” Romney said in a video announcing his bid.
“Given all that America faces, we feel that this is the right time for me to serve our state and our country,” he said.
Romney pointed to Utah's balanced budget and trade surplus as examples of the state's strengths, comparing them with Washington's debt and trade deficit.
“Utah has a lot to teach the politicians in Washington,” Romney said.

Considering the results of the 2012 GOP presidential primary in Utah, I don't see how you can possibly assert that. Romney also got 72.6% of the vote in Utah vs. Obama's 24.7%, in an election where Obama creamed him nationally.

There is no way, barring Mitt Romney exiting the race by dropping out or dying, that Romney won't be the next U.S. Senator from Utah.

OK, I’m gonna disagree here. I’m tired of the Perfect being the enemy of the Good and I’m tired of losing races we should win. I’d much rather see Romney win the nomination unopposed than have a brutal primary fight hand the race to the Democrats. I voted for Romney in 2012 and I’d vote for him this year if I lived in Utah. I know why people feel negatively about him but if nothing else I’m confident he’d support Trump’s judicial appointments and that’s the most important thing right now.

As a citizen of the Great State of Utah, I would like to say that I don’t want Romney. Anyone that got elected in Mass, ain’t one of us. He’s farther left than half of the Utah democrats.
