Quinn Norton Twitter ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The New York Times decided to sever ties with the newest addition to their editorial page on Tuesday just hours after they announced her arrival.
Tech writer Quinn Norton ended her very short tenure at the newspaper after controversy erupted over her use of racial and homophobic slurs on Twitter.
Despite our review of Quinn Nortons work and our conversations with her previous employers, this was new information to us, read a statement from editorial page editor, James Bennet.
Based on it, weve decided to go our separate ways.
In a series of tweets, Norton admitted to being friends with various neo-Nazis although she claimed she never agreed with them.
In one conversation from 2013, Norton wrote Heres the deal, ft. Free speech comes with responsibility. not legal, but human. grown up. you can do this.
In another oddly prescient tweet from 2014, she said Today I realized Id probably make a lot more money being a racist for @nytimes.
Despite the early dismissal, Norton seemed to take the situation in stride.

Can she claim unemployment?...............
Doubt it. She was fired, not laid off.
She was formally hired, so no reason to believe she can’t.
Some states doesn’t matter. This is a Blue State..................
She can start a blog, get adverts, and retire rich.
She call somebody a “honky” or something? ;-)
Reminds me of the youtube clip from some TV News segment. Two people on camera, The chirpy woman announces the arrival of her new colleague who will be her co-anchor starting today. Meanwhile, her new co-anchor is looking at his notes, mumbling, but absolutely audible: “What is this f-—ing, sh—? F— this. Awwwwwwwww, sh—. M-—F——.”
Yeah, it was his first and last day.
Well, at least she gets to put it on her resume....................
‘faggot’...................
The article almost suggests she was a conservative.
I’m betting she is a total left winger sjw who just has a big mouth that she can’t control.
Let me guess, he was black.......................
IHeartRadio now censors “faggot” out of Dire Straits “Money for Nothing”, so I’m not surprised. Our politically-correct ears cannot hear that word, now we just must imagine “that little (fill-in-the-blank)’s got his own jet airplane”...
The NYT must set the example, ya know...
Quinn Norton dated Aaron Swartz for three years.
Articles in The Atlantic and in New York Magazine indicate that she was pressured by prosecutors to offer information or testimony that could be used against Swartz, but that she denied having information that supported prosecutors’ claims of criminal intentions on Swartz’s part. Prosecutors nevertheless attempted to use a public blog post on Swartz’s blog that Norton mentioned, which may or may not have been co-authored by Swartz, as proof of a criminal intent.

Oh, that racist word. Or something. As I read the piece, it appears she was also friendly with some neo-nazis. Oh, Trump supporters. Now I get it.
Can she claim unemployment?...............
It depends on whether she has had enough other work in the past 15 months or so to qualify financially, and whether her separation from her most recent employer (NYT) was a firing for fault. She would probably get it because being let go during an initial trial period is not usually considered an at-fault separation. However, the NYT could claim that she was at fault because she hid information about herself, but they would probably lose. Most likely though, the NYT would not contest her getting benefits. The unemployment tax hit would be on her past employers she had during the 15 month base period, not the NYT.
If she had, she would still have a job.
To fill out the resume, no doubt.
As I said to RedBadger, apparently she was friends with some neo-nazis (Trump supporters?) even though she “claimed” to not agree with them. So, maybe just a self promoter?
