The Star Spangled Banner will no longer be played at rallies at California High School in San Ramon after student leaders determined the song is racially insensitive.
"It was brought to our attention that the national anthems third verse is outdated and racially offensive, wrote the president of the school's Associated Study Body. "We had nothing but good intentions by removing the song so that we could be fully inclusive to our student body."

The student body president posted a letter on the high school's website defending the decision to ban the song by citing a third verse that references "the hireling and slave."
There is widespread debate among historians as to what Francis Scott Key was alluding to in the lyrics. Regardless, only the first verse is traditionally sung at sporting events or public gatherings.
"This verse translated, finds joy in the killing of African-Americans," the student government president alleged. "To think that our nations anthem once had the word slave and 'land of the free' in the same sentence leaves me speechless."

"Moving forward, we must take action and be inclusive to all," the student body president wrote.
It didn’t specify the race of the slave. I prefer Greek slaves. ;-D
Many think the phrase is related to pressed (forced service) British soldiers who were used as slaves..
Inmates in charge of the asylum?
Puhleeze...the libturds are still winning. This grand experiment will fall into the dustbin of history if we do not reclaim our heritage (the good and the bad), know our history (truthfully), and find our foundation once again.
I fear it will be a difficult struggle.
....as a student,I would only participate (sports)at venues
that played the anthem....
Even if true of the third verse, which I do not in the least accept, when have you ever heard anything other than the first verse sung at any public event?
Since when do students get to have input about... anything?
Sing Mexico’s national anthem. Half of your students probably still have their loyalties and citizenship.
California schools have gone right into the sh!tter since Democrats repealed the laws against Communists and seditionists teaching in California schools or espousing sedition against the US government.

The bill, proposed by a Democratic state Senator from Long Beach, Alan Lowenthal, would also eliminate the state’s loyalty oath. Currently public employees are required to swear that they do not belong to any organization “advocating the forceful or violent overthrow of the government of the US” or of the state of California. With support from both of California’s big teachers’ unions, the California Federation of Teachers and the California Teachers Association, the bill passed its first committee vote, 5-3, on April 2. The Democrats control the both houses of the state legislature, so the chances for passage seem good.
According to a senate staffer quoted by the AP, the bill would still permit the firing of a public empoloyee for advocating the violent overthrow of the government, and permit teachers to be fired for teaching students “a preference for communism.”
...David Cole, professor of law at Georgetown, told the AP that the Supreme Court “long ago ruled that it violates the First Amendment right of association to deny employment and even security clearances based on membership in the Communist Party. . . . Guilt by association is never justified.”
The last person in California to be fired from a teaching position for Communist Party membership seems to have been Angela Davis, dismissed from the UCLA Philosophy Department in 1969. Today she holds the Presidential Chair in African American and Feminist Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
I suppose they dont teach the history of the war of 1812 where the British offered pay and British citizenship to slaves and other mercenaries to join them in burning American towns and plantations along the Chesapeake and Atlantic coast
Nor do they teach that the first Defender killed at Ft McHenry William Williams was a runaway slave who instead of joining the British or running to Canada, enlisted in the American army after plantation homes in Maryland were sacked and burned by Brits and their mercenaries including slaves who chose to join the British army
The Defenders who held off the British and their mercenaries from sacking and burning Baltimore in the battle watched by Francis Scott Key
Which is why he wrote
” No refuge could save
The hireling and slave
From the terror of flight
Or the gloom of the grave”

You dont have to “ think”
Just read history
Oh, say can you see by the dawns early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilights last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
Oer the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
Oer the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foes haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, oer the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the mornings first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
Oer the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battles confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
Oer the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the wars desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heavn rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: In God is our trust.
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
Oer the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Translated from what?
Sadly, this is my adopted home town that I moved away from several years ago.

Don’t go all radical with terms like ‘think’ and ‘history’, please ... we all know those are outmoded concepts for modern Uoots. If you persist, they will need more warm milk and cookies plus some new petting animals as their old ones wore out ...
Where did the mush heads get all those twisted concepts ? Fire all the teachers and Remove the schools credentials .
The liberal indoctrination is succeeding in certain areas, California especially.
I wonder if anyone in the student body has noticed that many of the songs they love to listen to on the radio, have alternate, sexually offensive lyrics on the recordings they buy? When Trump was explaining to Billy Bush how the people he's hanging with at NBC, grab @ussy and get away with it because they are celebrities, everyone who hated Trump, went ballistic. If the same people hear a rapper singing about grabbing @ussy, they sing along and dance...
The Left are now being obvious with their hate and treason....We no longer owe them an ounce of respect or tolerance, they have declared WAR on the decent peoples of this country, time to fight back in a manner that leaves them zhitting their pants.
” Hirelings and slaves” aka enemy combatants during the War of 1812
Grateful the Baltimore defenders kicked their asses along with the Brits
