Barack and Michelle Obama's portraits unveiled at Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery
Text of excerpt:
Barack and Michelle Obamas official portraits were unveiled at the Smithsonians National Portrait Gallery on Monday morning.
The former presidents portrait was painted by artist Kehinde Wiley, and the former First Lady chose Baltimore artist Amy Sherald for hers. Wiley and Sherald are the first two African-American artists to ever be commissioned to paint presidential portraits for the museum.

As they dined at her table, following an impromptu burial.
Portait of Mooch by Wayne Pascall. I think THIS would be preferable; captures her, perfectly.
You can thank the painter for that.
Good gawd! How awful is the wookie’s! Her friken hand is bigger than her face!?! And she ain’t frowning in the portrait— not natural at all.
I'll pass, thanks.
Obama Portrait Artist Likes to Paint African-American Women Holding Heads of Decapitated White Women
There is a gross tendency in the black community to hail anything done by a black person without any attempt to achieve excellence in that endeavor. A very poor painting showing limited skill is praised while that same painting by a white artist would be lampooned by a white art critic as crap. There is literally no critical evaluation and this trend encourages the bar to be constantly lowered.
I like that one of her too. More FLOTUS-like.
I knew what you did there. XD Goodfellas
Omuslim looks like somebody just photo shopped a pic of him into a hedge. Its ridiculous. LOL!
“I’ve just never seen affirmative action paintings before, I guess. I don’t get out much.”
Finally, I’ve figured out the artistic school Obola’s portrait came from—the same school that created the contrastless colored dot figures that are used to test for color blindness.
Obama looks like hes in a booth in Mans Country, waiting.
Please don’t do that to God’s name.
The painting of the black queen chopping off the head of the evil white woman is probably why Mooch picked that artist.
Omg I swear I didnt read your post before I posted mine about Barry.
Funny!
Obozzo looks like he is holding in a fart
That is a good painting. And Mooch looks attractive in it, yet people 300 years from now will still be able to wonder if it was the artist, or did that First Lady really have an angry chip on her shoulder.
I admit the artist did manage to show his queerness and his no-class wife’s fugliness.
Cartoonish works for cartoonish characters, painted by cartoonish ‘artists’ who shared all of the requirements: they are both angry, and black/affirmative action players in the art world and they suck as artists, but they be Black, yo!
They both should be embarrassed by those portraits...
