Wow, that's a ridiculous nearly two per person.
I begged for some relief from a bad knee that hurt so much it was better to hold the pee than get to the bathroom. One Tramadol later and no way NEVER AGAIN!!!!! That's some bad juju. Splitting headache, nausea, wanted to die, etc. Don't know why people want that stuff.
You may have been allergic to it.
At some point, given America’s determination to swing violently from one side to another, we are going to end up with no pain medication for the sick and dying and everybody else doped up out of their minds.
You’ve gotta have rocks in your head the size of Gibraltar to give this stuff to kids. I was given ridiculous pain pills when I had minor foot surgery a few years ago. I hated how they made me feel and there’s no way I could go to work zombied-out like that. During the day, I let it hurt and took a Motrin at night so that I could sleep. Just because they prescribe them, it doesn’t mean you have to take them or give them to your kids.
As a toddler, my daughter showed some signs of Aspberger’s and we had clearance to put her on all kinds of drugs. Nope, we didn’t do that. Her signs mostly disappeared by age 6 and she’s fine today at age 10.
I also had a doctor try to put me on cholesterol medication a few years ago when my cholesterol was in the normal range. Nope, I’m not going to take pills just to take them. Doctors do this crap all the time.
I was on 160 Roxys and didn’t feel anything.
Just stopped taking them after a month
This was over 10 years ago and someone told me that I could get 1500 dollars for my five dollar bottle.
But I don’t deal in selling death. Nor was I fond of the idea of going to prison.
The company that makes oxycontin made a huge settlement for lying about its addictive effects.
I am on klonopin for seizures from head injury, and I AM addicted to that. 4mgs a day and get sick as a dog after 24 hours without taking it.
So 150mg roxys stopped cold turkey, no problem.
Klonopin, I’d be in the ER in 3 days without it.
Go figure.
Good Job Jeffery the Innocent, wouldn’t want children in pain to get relief.
I’m not Evil Kenevil, but I’ve had a whole bunch of injuries over my life (66y/o). I’ve been on opioids many times over the years and damned glad I was.
I don’t know why some can manage and others can’t. Very serious stuff, but I believe it helps far far more than it hurts.
Tramadol is sorry
An excuse to replace more effective opiates to suit alarmists
I d five kids from 10-29
Never were they prescribed opiates.....never....
I lied...once for wisdom teeth pulling
#moreopiatehysterianoiseplease
I regard pain and symptoms of disease as part of the healing process. It's the body sending signals about when to slow down and heal.
” Why don’t we just do away with medicine and we and just lay on hands and pray” Jeffery the innocent. AKA part-time Attorney General
One note Johnnies are really irritating nuisances. One needs a pain pill to endure them, figuratively it seems.
Hello this is why we have pediatric medicine. Kids will bounce back faster than adults will.
But why is this Texas item being mixed in here. Does Childress County have a lot of old folks?
Habituation may start physical but staying there unnecessarily is spiritual. Getting past it needs to be a God and prayer and bible promise and church thing. I’d sooner a world where the risks of sin are visible than where they are all hushed up and pretended they aren’t there.
Tramadol, from research I have done, seems to be the latest attempt at an opiate that’s not trumpeted as such. Any new drug of that kind should be started slow. See how half a tablet kicks in before trying more. And be ready to sleep it off all day. If it lets you rest that is half the battle.
If a kid does need a very major surgery, such as for scoliosis, or cardiac surgery, trauma, inevitably, these children will require opioids for acute and subacute pain during the outpatient rehabilitative process which wound generally be months. Without opioids, PT and daily activities would be compromised.
At this point, I think that physicians need to withhold opioids to children. The rules with respect to opioid prescribing are puposely too vague and the risks to providers are too great. We need to get to a point where children are refused painful and invasive surgery because of fears over opioid prescribing. Perhaps a politician, a prosecutor, or bureacrat’s kid will be denied surgery on this basis. Good, they can reap what they sow. Maybe then, the hysteria will diminish and we can have a balanced and rational discussion on opioids for pain management.
The anti-opioid zealots might claim that they don’t want to go this far. But, no provider wants to risk their liberty or property to practice medicine. Remember, as we have seen with corrupt agencies such as the FBI, the investigatory process is indeed a punishment.
I fully agree. Opiod based pain meds make me loopey AND give me hives. I prefer Advil and thus far, thank GOD above, that is all I need.
Would rather use a bite guard and grit my teeth than take that stuff!!
Call me stupid or naive but that is my two cents worth.
Tramadol is 1 of the worse for side effects and ADDICTION. Puking is quite normal with any opioid, Phragan or it’s generic taken with stops that aspect. NORCO which is Oxycontin is the usual 5mg takes care of most minor surgery pain. Dilauded IV for stronger major pain. But they are giving Lower doses than they use to as my ER trip for Diverticulitis proved last week. I PUKE on any form of opioid so have to have Phragan to take it.
Having had my wisdom teeth CUT as they were sideways, with stitches, that requires something a lot stronger than Tylenol.
There is an epidemic today of young adults overdosing on drugs
.we all know this. I remember years ago wondering what will happen to all of these children who were given prescription drugs for behavior issues, beginning in elementary school. Could it be we are now seeing the consequence of that?
Wonder if anybody has done a study to see the percentage of people who are addicted or dead now to whether they were introduced to drugs as children, and took them regularly.
It seems to me that once they are used to taking them, and the resulting calming effects
.that it would be an easy transition to the illegal stuff later in life.
I’d volunteer to confiscate the medication and I promise to dispose of them properly.
