"Congress Approves Two-Year Spending Pact"
Opioid addiction in most cases is the result of a weak character. You are using the example of a soldier who got addicted due to injuries received during battle. That is a rare exemption. The majority who are opioid addicted started their addiction because they liked to get high and are basic losers. Chronic pain patients also get addicted , but they dont realize that the pain pills they are taking dont work after awhile due to tolerance.
NICE TONE — THANK YOU. I am referring to the 100% who are abusing these drugs WITHOUT medical prescriptions!! You don’t defend that do you?
They were all in a bad light to start. No change.
Why does Trump not publicly suggest that they go back to regular order?
Had Paul maintained his refusal to go along, it would have cast the RP as the party that shut down the government now.
Even the Left knew Schumer blew it last time. That would have been overshadowed if we had effected a shut-down now.
To Paul’s credit, he evidently realized this.
We both have beefs with the RP, but things can always get worse. We need to quit doing things that bring that fate upon ourselves.
Why have a RP if they always implement the DP agenda? Federal judges is it??
So what do we do to force them to return to regular order, as lyin’ Ryan promised before becoming Speaker?
Apple just announced they are going to pay $38 billion dollars in taxes to repatriate about $250 billion to the U. S.
In one transaction, we’re talking about 10% of the proposed spending increase over the next two years.
There is plenty to be happy about. If folks only want to focus on the negative, I can’t stop them.
Did you think you’d get a tax decrease out of the Democrats?
Did you think the increased budget agreed to right here would have been smaller under the Democrats?
Do you think the Steele/Comey/et all investigation would be heating up right now if the Republicans hadn’t been elected?
Do you think we would have all the FBI resignations of the last week or so, if they Democrats were in office?
Do you think we’d have folks pretty hot on the tail of the Clinton’s right now, if the Democrats had been elected?
Do you think our military would be getting improved funding and a major overhaul if Democrats had been elected?
Do you think we would have anyone at all pleading our case at the top level of government, if the Democrats had been elected?
Do you think twitter would have been used so craftily in objection to Leftist policy?
Need I go on?
Sure things could be a little better. They could be a hell of a lot worse right now too.
Eliminate All Federal
Agencies established after 1963.
Cut by 1/2 all Federal Agencies established between 1946 and 1963.
You did not answer my question. Let me try again. When will regular order be restored, so that we aren’t faced with take-it-or-leave-it omnibus bills? Because we can keep the military funded without agreeing on planned Parenthood.
I didn’t respond on that point, because I am not well versed enough in ‘regular order’ to give you a good answer on it.
It means treating each appropriation separately, voting on each separately. Jamming them into one “take it or leave it” bill is unnecessary and only serves to hand power to statists and Democrats. Ryan promised to stop this practice of one big omnibus, but he has broken that promise every year he has been Speaker. The only elected reps standing up for We The People are Rand Paul and a few house R’s.
Oh.
I thought I did tone it down.
Glad you didn’t see the first couple drafts of that post, FRiend. ;)
Some people very close to me have plowed a rocky field getting off of prescription opiates. One didn’t succeed, so I’m perhaps more sensitive to generalizations about weak character.
Per that explanation, I wholeheartedly agree with you.
Rand is good on some issues. I appreciate his stance on them.
Lets face it, there are some lost causes. Recognizing that, raising them at a critical moment in a process, doesn’t really help much.
It serves to make you look like a kook, and it can actually harm your side.
Do I want to see fiscal conservancy? Yes I do. That being said, I think there’s only so much you can do.
I am hopeful that Trump has something in mind that we will be very happy about later on.
I’ve spent at least 50 years supporting fiscal conservancy. I’m not about to toss in the towel now. I’m just willing to let Trump have some room to maneuver.
If he sells us out, he does. There’s nobody else on the horizon that I know of that has the leadership skills and the close proximity to our views.
Either Trump satisfies us in this area or he doesn’t. I won’t be very happy about it if he doesn’t. I do have to face the fact that nobody else is going to either.
Not wanting to beat a dead horse, but one must ask oneself why Boehner and Ryan have done this year after year. The result is that they put real conservatives in a bad light. Rand Paul and Justin Amash (and the House FC), who are both reasonable and good on EVERY issue that I can think of, have refused to go along with the charade without alerting the American people. So let’s be clear: the shutdown and threats of it, especially over military spending, are absolute charades...canards...deceptions. You of all people, having spent 50 years supporting conservative causes (as you say) should be well aware of this. It has been talked about by the House FC for YEARS. Attacking Rand or the House FC for doing their job, while not highlighting the deception, is incomprehensible to me. Anyone who actively posts in this forum should be educating fellow conservatives!!
