Former president George W. Bush said that “there’s pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled” in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, during a speech in Abu Dhabi Thursday.
“Whether they affected the outcome is another question,” Bush added.
He called it “problematic” that “a foreign nation is involved in our election system. Our democracy is only as good as people trust the results.”
“He’s got a chip on his shoulder,” Bush said about Putin. “The reason he does is because of the demise of the Soviet Union troubles him. Therefore, much of his moves (are) to regain Soviet hegemony.”
The former president went on to emphasize the importance of NATO and U.S. alliances around the world, claiming Putin “is pushing, constantly pushing, probing weaknesses.”

That's my recollection as well. We underestimate these people at our peril: they rebounded very well after Reagan and have every intention of doing so again after Trump.

IMHO, the moment it became crystal clear that Bush was a shitty war time president came when he let Muqtada al-Sadr off the hook, indirectly and eventually enabling the Iranian mullahs. I can think of no other reasonable explanation. Trump poses a clear and present danger to their plans. In fact, it's quite possible the elder Bush was forced on Reagan as a trojan horse that would later undo whatever Reagan was able to accomplish. If so, it worked to perfection.
You really blew it when you invaded Iraq. You destabilized the country, toppling a strong regime that kept the m*slims from blowing the place apart and killing everyone around. This allowed radical m*slims to gain strength, and, during bammy’s term, to form islamic state with bammy’s full tacit approval.
