Jim Carrey is quitting Facebook and dumping his stock — and is urging everyone else to do so as well.
"We must encourage more oversight by the owners of these social media platforms," Jim Carrey said in a statement to CNBC. "This easy access has to be more responsibly handled. What we need now are activist investors to send a message that responsible oversight is needed. What the world needs now is capitalism with a conscience."
The comedian tweeted on Tuesday he was selling his Facebook shares and deleting his page because the company profited from Russian interference during the 2016 U.S. election. He asked all "other investors who care about our future to do the same."

Hmm, didn’t know that. The only movie I liked Carey in was The Mask and also the opening scene to Pet Detective when he was kicking that UPS parcel down the street. That’s it.

I am in marketing and FB is a tool and I can tell you that FB knows EXACTLY what they are doing, playing both sides. They provide ad space, etc, yet make it difficult to really dial in the target audience. They want you to pay for ads, get some results but not the best results so you continue to ad money and tweek. They are very very sophisticated and know who is paying for ads, etc. Everything is connected behind the scenes and you can never get a straight answer out of them. This is an example of intelligent people running a platform and use if for their own political agenda yet they are not very wise to the world.
I’m beginning to see how encouraging this mass psychosis can be useful to us.

The new rules as of 2016 is that everything on Facebook is forever and they keep the images etc. There is NO ‘deleting’ accounts..
I just wish people like Carey would be specific. What exactly did the Russians do in your opinion regarding Facebook.....and where’s the proof? And even if true, is it that big a deal in the overal picture? The lack of scientific back- up in political rhetoric is maddening. Just now I heard a dude from AP say ‘we all know what the Russians did in the 2016 election’. Well, I don’t and I am very skeptical of his spin, but I am also a scientist. What happened in 2016? And where is the proof? In absent of that, it’s all just blather and makes the sellers of the blather look like idiots.
