An Indiana prosecutor criticized President Trump for his comments Tuesday after police said the man accused of killing an Indianapolis Colts linebacker in a suspected drunk-driving accident was an undocumented immigrant.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said in a statement that comments politicizing the fatal crash were "ghoulish and inappropriate," The Associated Press reported on Wednesday.
Curry said that his office would "vigorously prosecute" the case, according to the AP.
We are disheartened that ghoulish and inappropriate public commentary has politicized this tragedy, Curry, a Democrat, said. Much of such commentary, including tweets by the president, fails to acknowledge that both Edwin Jackson and Jeffrey Monroe lost their lives on Sunday. We will simply seek justice on behalf of the families of those two victims.
Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson was killed on Sunday when a Ford-150 struck him and another man on the side of a highway in Indianapolis.
Indiana state police identified the suspect as Manuel Orrego-Savala, a Guatemala citizen who is in the U.S. illegally.
Orrego-Savala had been deported twice from the U.S.
President Trump on Tuesday tweeted that it was "disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed @Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson."
"This is just one of many such preventable tragedies. We must get the Dems to get tough on the Border, and with illegal immigration, FAST!" Trump tweeted.
Curry filed felony charges Wednesday against Orrego-Savala. He is being charged with two counts of causing death while driving intoxicated and of leaving the scene of an accident, according to the AP.
Oh, please, the left politicizes EVERYTHING (including bathrooms). If you cant politicize this...than you cant politicize anything. The left has blood on their hands each time an illegal kills or hurts someone and they need to be told that every day.
Some times cars break down. Some times you have to get out to take the leak. Could be one of them deals.
It goes beyond ghoulish when dumbasses like this support it.
1. RFRA is a law.
2. The city of Indianapolis denounced it and said they would refuse to enforce it.
3. The city immediately wrote homosexuality in as a protected class in the city.
4, the city has a HUGE illegal immigrant population - Especially on the west side.
Given that youre sorely wrong about everything else - I cant help but wonder about the value of your defense of Terry Curry.
This prosecutor should be dismissed from the case.
He has proven himself to be a political creature, and there’s no room for them when the criminal justice system is involved.
This shows clear bias in favor of illegal immigrants, and one is on trial here.
So...what it boils down to is that the prosecutor is essentially objecting to POTUS’s remarks on the grounds that the truth has no place in politics.
yeah.. how dare he point out that the killer was a twice deported illegal alien!
That’s just mean.
An UBER driver with Jackson- pulled over to let Jackson throw up. Then this drunken POS hit and killed both.
You nailed that, my friend.
It's a state law that provided defendants with a defense to certain civil proceedings. How does a city "refuse to enforce it"? I know of no instance where a judge in Marion County refused to allow a defendant to take advantage of RFRA when relevant to the proceedings.
"The city of Indianapolis denounced it and said they would refuse to enforce it."
Cities can't say anything, people say things. Please identify who supposed said the city of Indianapolis will "refuse to enforce it". It certainly wasn't the Republican mayor at the time this was an issue.
All large urban cities have an illegals problem. Indy's is worse than some but better than most.
AS I said, you have no clue what RFRA really is and you don't know a thing about Terry Curry.
“:^)
Oh they are very appropriate. They show that liberals are responsible for this death.
Here’s a solution: anyone who is here illegally and has been previously removed from America should be summarily executed for the next crime that he/she commits.
Tell us what dont know. What is he, a relation?
Nope, an adversary. He's a prosecutor and criminal law is part of my practice. I've dealt with lots of jerk prosecutors and Terry has always been a stand up person. He's never lied to me and if he promises something he keeps his word. I disagree with him politically on this issue and many others, but to disparage his character just because of his politics would be the type of low down thing so many dems do. Others on this board may be willing to stoop to that but I won't.
“Prosecutor defends law breakers”
I must’ve missed this same article when B. Hussein Obama said,
“If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”
