Is it time to Make Los Angeles Great Again? After almost two decades of corporate ownership, the Los Angeles Times will revert back to private control under an owner with professed skepticism about journalism. Billionaire doctor and investor Patrick Soon-Shiong will cough up nearly $600 million to take full control of the paper, a figure that dwarfs what Jeff Bezos paid for the Washington Post a few years back:

He is actually a brilliant man, at least his accomplishments would make one believe that to be the case.

Whos the billionaire doctor palling around with Donald Trump?
What follows is what I found from various news articles including the one I linked above.
Politically, the two would seem to have little in common. Soon-Shiongs political contributions have skewed heavily toward the Democratic Party, including $50,000 in donations to Hillary Clintons 2016 campaign and joint fundraising committee.
He is currently chair of NantWorks, LLC, Executive Director of the Wireless Health Institute at the University of California at Los Angeles, and an Adjunct Professor of Surgery at UCLA.
Patrick Soon-Shiong was born in South Africa to Chinese immigrants. He sold drug companies Abraxis and American Pharmaceutical Partners for a combined $9.1 billion. His biotech startup, NantHealth, went public in 2016; Patrick Soon-Shiong was born in South Africa to Chinese immigrants. Maybe now they can FINALLY release the Rashid Khalidi tape that the LA Slimes have been hiding for the past 10 years
To: OneVike
Surprising number of South Africans becoming prominent stateside. Obviously this guy won’t be a household name like Elon Musk or Charlize Theron, but it’s nonetheless remarkable.

Yes, I agree. Right now the liberals hate him, and I figure he is like Trump. He donated to those in power to do business, but inside he is a Capitalist and sill do what he must to get what he wants done.
He will be an interesting Character to keep an eye on. From everything I have learned of individuals capitalist with a lot of money who come from South Africa, they are more conservative than many think and very shrewd in their business dealings.
Everything I learned about him, makes me feel that him and trump are more than just aquaintness. Maybe down the road they could become more than just golfing friends. Time will tell.

If he’s going to put out a balanced (conservatives included) newspaper he could turn that rag around...

Unfortunately, Bezos investment in the Washington Post just became more
valuable.

All we really need is for the paper to print the actual *facts* for once.
