This time last week, there was growing tumult in Washington over the memo produced by House Intelligence Committee Republicans alleging "FISA abuse" in the Trump-Russia investigation. There were dire warnings that the release of the GOP memo would endanger national security, that doing so would be "extraordinarily reckless" without proper FBI and Justice Department review, and that the FBI had "grave concerns" about "material omissions of fact" that would "fundamentally impact the memo's accuracy."

The Democratic memo, these Republicans say, is much different. "It's full of sources and methods," said one lawmaker, referring to highly classified information. "It includes material that they clearly cannot release," said another. "It's nothing but sources and methods," said a third. "Even to the footnotes."
The inclusion of all that classified information has Republicans speculating on Democratic strategy. (A Democratic spokesman declined to comment.) One widely held theory is that the memo was intentionally written in a way that the FBI, Justice Department, and White House would have little choice but to recommend extensive redactions.
"Part of what they are going to do is to talk about how the White House redacted their memo and didn't redact the Republican one," said one of the lawmakers quoted above. "Part of the plan was, let's create a document that gets eviscerated in the scrubbing and comes out with a bunch of redactions and they say, look, the White House is hiding something."
Those suspicions were fueled Monday when Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, told reporters, "We want to make sure that the White House does not redact our memo for political purposes, and obviously that's a deep concern."

Can’t help but think this second memo will back fire on them as it will open the door for a flood of memos, now that both sides agree that public awareness is a good thing. :/ The more info in the realm of common knowledge, the harder it is for the dems to lie.
The Dems have set themselves up for a nightmare.
Trump holds a press briefing and announces that because the Dems have insisted on playing politics he’ll prove it by releasing the Dem memo in its’ entirety without ANY REDACTIONS.
He then will announce that he will ask the Media to provide 5 people to meet with him to go over the Dem Memo. The only caveat will be that the Editors of their paper or media outlet will have final say on whether to release the Dem Memo in its’ entirety or not.
Any attempt by the Media to release ANY abbreviated version will mean that the Whit House will release the ENTIRE memo.
Checkmate.
Just compare it to the Grassley letter which is of similar length and still has significant redactions.

I see a US Navy Academy distinguished graduate, Navy veteran, and brilliant man ( post grad Georgetown, NYU and London School of Economics) who in the course of establishing an international investment company, was set up by the agencies who asked for - and got - his cooperation in tagging bad actors
Then framed him to look like a security risk whose every contact for maybe 1-3 echelons of “ hopping” could be spied on to mine political dirt for Hillary Clinton

White House approves Dem memo without redactions and returns to the House Dems....with a WARNING!
“It is YOUR responsibility to declassify before releasing to the public.”

At this point I am fine with exposing sources and methods.
The whole damned system is so corrupt, it’s time to burn it down.
Won’t be enough Depends in all the world to supply Washington at that point.

I’d do a press briefing, but not to announce the release of the memo as-is. I’d call the press into a room at the WH, the same as he did with the DACA negotiations, with Wray, Rosenstein and Schiff in the room. Then Trump should announce he’s leaving the room to allow the three to make any redactions needed, and leave (on camera) with the press.
That way the memo has NO redactions from Trump, only from Democrats or the FBI/DOJ. Any sensitive information released would be solely in the hands of Schiff, Wray and Rosenstein, and no political (or obstruction) ramifications for Trump since he allowed them to release the memo as they saw fit.
If this is true then the intel committee should never have released it to go to the White House.
We still don't the type and extent of surveillance on Trump Tower, but the details or exactly how it was/is done are classified. The Dems would put those in as evidence of guilt since how could someone being surveilled be not guilty.
