A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress, Americas longest-serving bomber, set a new record for the most smart bombs dropped on the Taliban in Afghanistan, the U.S. Forces-Afghanistan revealed Tuesday.
Shattering the previous record set in November, the American bomber dropped 24 precision-guided munitions during a 96-hour air campaign against Taliban training and narcotics facilities in Afghanistan, Fox News reports. The conventional rotary configuration on board allows the B-52s to easily unleash hell on the terrorists.
The Taliban have nowhere to hide, Gen. John Nicholson, the unit commander, reportedly said in a statement. There will be no safe haven for any terrorist group bent on bringing harm and destruction to this country.

Don’t we have a few million iron bombs gathering dust we can just carpet bomb with?
Yes, but we don’t have enough bombers to properly carry them.
Guess we retired the space shuttle too soon? LOL!
“Taliboom! Looks like they blowed up real good!”
I approve.
Would be interesting watching one of those releasing bombs while inverted...
Come, Bomb de Taliban, and tally me bonanza!
You know who you can thank for that.
Really? How many bombers dont we have?
Go for roll!
On second thougth, the shuttle bomb bay doors required the craft to go inverted. ;-)
I read where one B52 carries the same bomb load as a squadron of B17’s did during WW2.
Carpet bombing is rather inefficient for going after isolated small encampments, and it causes harm to non-combatants. Why leave large holes all over the valley when one hole will do?
Old dumb iron bombs are actually fitted with guidance kits these days, turning them into precision weapons.
iron bombs can be retro-fitted with a guidance nose and steering tail fins.
Quite a good use of “iron”
This is all thanks to the Trump Effect. Here’s a quote from the article:
When an Air Force B-52 dropped 19 smart bombs on Taliban opium and heroin facilities in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in November, Air Force Brig. Gen. Lance Bunch revealed the Trump administration has given the military authority to take the fight to the enemy in new ways.
The new strategy highlights that this is a new war, he told reporters at the time. The gloves are off. Weve got now these authorities we need to be able to go and target the Taliban network That is our new strategy going forward and its definitely been a game-changer and the Taliban is definitely feeling it.
All the areas where they thought they were safe and they are no longer so, he further remarked.
Thank you, President Trump!
Yup and with 100 per cent more accuracy.
Yeah. Like the DNC headquarters.
Hundreds.
744 B-52s, for example, were built. Roughly half were intentionally destroyed.
Less than 100 are still flyable.
There’s only 76 B52s.
