A uniformed officer carrying his service weapon was asked to leave an Outback Steakhouse restaurant because it is a designated gun-free zone.
Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency officer Andrew Ward went to Outback Steakhouse to have dinner with his wife Friday evening, he wrote in a public Facebook post.
Ward said in the post that a manager approached him and requested that he put his gun in his truck. Ward told the manager that he could not because he was in uniform and had to have his weapon on his person.
The manager left to make a call, Ward writes, and then returned to ask Ward and his wife to leave because Outback is a gun free zone.

At least they are consistent.
The officer should have told him to call the cops then. LOL
I predict the manager will be saying, “Would you like fries with that?” .......soon...................
I rare go to Outback, not great. You’d think by now most restaurants would realize that such behavior as this is not good for business, not being a good corporate citizen, and likely costs them business.
When I see a gun-free zone” sign, I turn around and leave. I vote with my wallet every single time I can.
I’d be surprised if officers were not exempt from those rules.
Good idea.
It does sound rather faked. That would mean police could not enter the building.
This is local to me. Citizens are outraged and boycotting Outback. This is almost unheard of where open carry is legal. I see people carrying openly all the time and nothing is said. There have been a lot of people moving here from other states to take jobs at Amazon, etc. Snowflakes moving South and wanting to make us like them.
This was in Tennessee?
Things are worse than I thought.
Weve always allowed uniformed law enforcement officers to carry their side arms inside our restaurants, reads the statement. A manager made a mistake and we have discussed this with her. We have contacted the guest personally and apologized.

Well, I guess criminals now know what restaurant they can rob.
People who invest millions into a business and then turn it over to an idiot to manage never cease to amaze me. This phenomenon is constantly in the news almost weekly at fast food franchises across our country.
“When I see a gun-free zone sign, I turn around and leave. I vote with my wallet every single time I can.”
Yup, same here.
Outback is one of those establishments that I do not patronize. Chili’s is another. I will never put myself into the position of being a potential victim, just to be able to spend my money.
I’m not sure if they are exempt, but a friend of mine who is a cop chuckles when he talks about businesses that have “guns are banned on these premises”, signs posted, saying “let them try to stop me.”
Would the manager have allowed the cops she called to come without disarming???LOL
If the manager was told by a higher up to boot him, that's not the manager's fault, and whoever told her that ought be canned. If the manager was told to let the man stay and didn't, the manager oughta be canned.
Who did the manager call and what was she told?
Inquiring minds want to know.
“requested that he put his gun in his truck”
Request denied.
