INDIANAPOLIS -- President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday morning about the death of Indianapolis Colts player Edwin Jackson.
Jackson was killed early Sunday morning when he and his Uber driver, 54-year-old Jeffrey Monroe, were pulled over on I-70 near Holt Road. They were outside the vehicle when a Ford F-150 crashed into them, killing both men.
Police say the suspected driver, Manuel Orrego-Savala, 37, was intoxicated at the time of the crash. His BAC measured at 0.239 percent -- three times the legal limit.
Orrego-Savala, a citizen of Guatemala by birth, is in the United States illegally, according to Indiana State Police. He had been previously deported in 2007 and 2009.
@realDonaldTrump
So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed @Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson. This is just one of many such preventable tragedies. We must get the Dems to get tough on the Border, and with illegal immigration, FAST!
@realDonaldTrump
My prayers and best wishes are with the family of Edwin Jackson, a wonderful young man whose life was so senselessly taken. @Colts

I don’t think people realize how dangerous it is to park on the side of the freeway. Drunks, texters and just plain inattentive drivers cross over into the shoulder all the time.
Not that this justifies what happens. Quite the contrary, actually. It’s just that it really should be done only in an emergency. It’s quite dangerous.
A tragedy which could have been prevented.
I agree, and have experienced the “moth effect” myself, being drawn to an object with flashing lights on the shoulder (usually when tired at night). I say ABANDON vehicle and call for roadside assistance.
A tragedy which SHOULD have been prevented!..................
I agree. It was dangerous to be on the berm even before cell phones. In those rare cases when I find myself there, I have my attention paid on the on-comming traffic at all spare moments. It’s not the place to be if you can ever help it.
I am glad Trump said something, because to local Indianapolis media, this illegal does not exist. It is just ‘drunk driver”, and they refuse to mention the illegal part.
Absolutely agree.
This kind of thing is exactly why I am not an Uber user. You can’t tell if the Uber car you get into has gas, etc., whereas with a cab from a real company, in all likelihood, it has gas, been recently serviced, etc.
I’m 64 and have used a cab once in my entire life. Meanwhile, in the last year I’ve used Lyft almost a dozen times. Every time was a really positive experience.
We’ll see if my good fortune continues.
If he didn’t mention the other victim, he should have. Poor guy wouldn’t have even been at the side of the road if the ball player didn’t have to puke. Was he drunk?
The last time I had a flat on the freeway it was a mile to the next exit. I just kept on driving. The tire was destroyed, the steel rim was still usable, I was able to change the wheel where it was safe.
Daily occurrence in LA. Not always deaths but drunken illegals who dont drive well hitting something and leaving the scene. Daily. Huge fear of anyone on these roads.
Carry puke bags. I do, I have a puker kid.
