I don’t think people realize how dangerous it is to park on the side of the freeway. Drunks, texters and just plain inattentive drivers cross over into the shoulder all the time.

Not that this justifies what happens. Quite the contrary, actually. It’s just that it really should be done only in an emergency. It’s quite dangerous.

I agree, and have experienced the “moth effect” myself, being drawn to an object with flashing lights on the shoulder (usually when tired at night). I say ABANDON vehicle and call for roadside assistance.

I agree. It was dangerous to be on the berm even before cell phones. In those rare cases when I find myself there, I have my attention paid on the on-comming traffic at all spare moments. It’s not the place to be if you can ever help it.

This kind of thing is exactly why I am not an Uber user. You can’t tell if the Uber car you get into has gas, etc., whereas with a cab from a real company, in all likelihood, it has gas, been recently serviced, etc.
