*** While the FBI admitted that the information came from a politically motivated source, the bureau did not disclose that the source had been financed by Hillary Clintons presidential campaign. That is a damning omission.
My job reviewing those warrants existed because prior to the establishment of a National Security Division at the Justice Department, a special assistant to the attorney general with the appropriate clearances had the job of making sure the attorney general did not sign off on a warrant application that got bounced back from the FISA court. Such a rejection had never happened before I got there, didnt happen while it was my job and has happened only a handful of times since. That record is in large part because of trust developed between the FISA courts and the FBI and Justice Department over decades, especially the respect accorded the counterintelligence professionals at the bureau. That trust has now been injured.
Upon publication of the Nunes memo, a retired federal judge emailed me: There is not an officer of the court in the land who in the context of this particular application to the FISA court should not have identified the source of the information as having been the [Democratic National Committee] and the Clinton Campaign. If I had granted the application and then subsequently learned that the information was sourced to the DNC and the Campaign, I would have rescinded the authorization and issued a show-cause order to the Government to explain who and why this sourcing was not made known to the court. The fact (if it be that) that the Government told the court that it was a political source, but did not identify who, in this particular instance, is highly probative that the Government purposely misled the court.

Who cares what Hugh says.
But....I remember just how late to the Trump party he came, so....
That HH writes in the ComPost is plain evidence that he is an attention-seeking, wine-sipping sellout.
But we’ve known this for years about this fraud.
I wonder why nobody’s talking about whether they disclosed that Page was working for the Trump campaign.
Ummm, he is making our side’s case.
everybody is assuming that the fisa judge is not corrupt, wrong!
Damn. That’s a pretty important point made by the judge. If the feds left out that little tibit it taints the ENTIRE investigation that resulted. And it would seem to show they consciously omitted the source.
Sitting back, it becomes clearer by the day that the government was CERTAIN Mrs. Clinton would be president.
Does anyone know for sure that she said they would all hang if Trump were elected or is that an unsourced myth?
I think hes still sore Hugh used to be a never Trumper ...
Many others have already covered what Hugh has to say.
He is just repeating what many others have already pointed out.
He never has any original thought.
In this case, are you trying to trash the message because of the messenger?
Is the judge dirty, or has he rescinded this NOW? It needs to be rescinded since the memo was released, and the investigation halted.
All but one of the current FISA judges are Obama appointees and in the swamp pocket. So we should be surprised?
Sounds the judge and the FBI were playing “don’t ask, don’t tell” together.
Imagine if Trump has a GOP majority in both the House and Senate for his full 8 years in office. Who will be left to thwart his agenda? The judges.
Let’s keep that in mind as this scandal unfolds.
heheheh. Technically, because by then he wasn't. Others have raised the same question in a different way, if the FBI thought Page was a Russian spy, why didn't the FBI warn Trump? Comey testified to Congress:
It is important to understand that FBI counter-intelligence investigations are different than the more-commonly known criminal investigative work. The Bureau's goal in a counter-intelligence investigation is to understand the technical and human methods that hostile foreign powers are using to influence the United States or to steal our secrets. The FBI uses that understanding to disrupt those efforts. Sometimes disruption takes the form of alerting a person who is targeted for recruitment or influence by the foreign power.
He starts off good, then writes this crap:
“To expect the nations top cop or its top law enforcement officer to read and carefully review even the least important applications is to expect too much of overwhelmingly burdened key players.”
He’s right, the uppers cannot review every detail in EVERY application. But WHAT THE HELL, they sure as heck can give additional scrutiny to the case where one is requesting to spy on their political enemies - that is a BIG DEAL, a really big deal.
I’m not ABOUT to give the uppers a pass on this, and I do think it’s very likely that the uppers (i.e., people placed there by Obama) were the ones who did request the spying in the first place. It’s difficult to believe that low-level career staffers would take this initiative to simply spy on people for fun - as he is implying.
So what if he’s covering points that may have been made? It happens that not everyone is as up-to-the-minute as you may be. While Hewitt may not be our favorite pundit, he nevertheless reaches a large audience. Given he writes op-eds in an “enemy” newspaper he reaches even more.
If we are to get through this nightmare, we need people to change their minds about “Russia”, the Deep State and the vindictive leftists hell-bent on ruining us. If Hewitt can help in that endeavor, well thank God.
The Leftard talking point is that Washington Free Beacon created the dossier.
Did they spend more than $9,000,000 because that is the combined figure we know from the Hitlery Rotten Clinton and DirtyNogoodnikCrooks that THEY paid.
Each issuance has a 90 day life. We’ve been told that the last grant has expired and Page is no longer the subject of surveillance under a FISA warrant.
Good GOD! Was this really in the Washington Post? I'll watch for flying pigs in the morning.
