Think California politics is on the far-left fringe? Just wait for the next elections.
Washington Post ^ | February 3, 2018 | Scott Wilson

For those who think California politics is on the far-left fringe of the national spectrum, stand by. The next election season, already well underway here, will showcase a younger generation of Democrats that is more liberal and personally invested in standing up to President Trump’s Washington than those leaving office.

Here in the self-labeled “state of resistance,” the political debate is being pushed further left without any sign of a Republican renaissance to serve as a check on spending and social policy ambitions. Even some Republicans are concerned about the departure of Gov. Jerry Brown (D), who proved to be fiscally cautious after inheriting a state seven years ago in deep recession.

California implemented a runoff system for elections eliminating primaries. Supposedly this was to encourage "moderation". It utterly failed as statewide elections have become a Democratic v. Democratic contests.

The media sees “far left politics” as a lifetime goal whereas they see “far right politics” as hateful and wrong for America and the world.

Is there ANY position that the media would EVER decry as “TOO FAR LEFT EXTREMIST”?

Communism kills.

I hear that California would have gone blue if not for election fraud.

They are quickly turning into a state defined by poverty and incredible wealth. The wealthy wealth can always take their money and run, and that is what will happen if they go too far over the line.

Is anyone fighting this in the courts? Why has this not been declared unconstitutional?

CA is a leftist utopian hell immutably headed via insurmountable demographics to single party rule. It is just going to have to run its course, and I believe it will take about 1.5 generations before there is a glimmer of hope for a reversal. I won’t be alive by the time that happens.

I can’t get upset about it any more. The beautiful state of boundless opportunity I came to 48 years ago is going to have to self destruct and a whole lot of insiders are going to get filthy rich riding it. Not being in that class, my choice is to escape with my memories of how incredible a state CA once was and look elsewhere.

You know we don’t have to wait for California to secede we can use expulsion. There is nothing in the Constitution that says the rest of us cant vote to drive out a state that by its nature threatens the rest of us.

If we do this though we should only throw out those counties that have shown a reckless disregard for federal law. We keep like 80% of the state and kick out Los Angeles and San Francisco!

Only the WaPo can print something like this with a straight face:

..Gov. Jerry Brown (D), who proved to be fiscally cautious..

Stockton’s mayor announced that the city will give a $500.00 monthly no strings “universal income” to it’s residents.

Where’s this money coming from. High taxes from the productive, of course.

"They are quickly turning into a state defined by poverty and incredible wealth.

Just like Mexico. Mexico is what the "elites" have planned for all of us. A super rich ruling class, a small wealthy professional class and a vast impoverished peasantry. What to see the future of the USA look to Cali/Mexico.

I know. I saw that and laughed. Moonbeam is claiming a surplus this year after being in the red $1.6 billion last year. There is a continuing exodus of businesses from the state. That’s hardly a sign of a healthy economy. Everybody and their mother knows that California taxpayers pay billions every year to support illegals.

Why would it be unconstitutional? The Constitution doesn’t even address political parties.
