... pregame protesters rallied against racism and a television ad infuriated many viewers by invoking the voice of Martin Luther King Jr. to sell pickup trucks....
....The biggest blowback, however, was reserved for Dodge. To many commentators, the advertisement seemed to co-opt the martyred civil rights icon in the service of crass commercialism and unblinking patriotism. King loudly opposed the Vietnam War and argued for military expenditures to be redirected to domestic spending particularly to serve....

Who won?
MLK would have no problem selling trucks, or stealing them for that matter.
As for those bitching about someone using one of MLK’s speaches, why not? MLK himself stole the words from someone else!
I saw the Ad also. I (and everyone in the room with me) thought that interposing the “GMC” logo throughout the Ad was demeaning to the message itself, even using MLK it was demeaning to his message. NOW, if they had just done the entire Ad without interposing the “GMC” logo throughout the Ad and at the very very end just propped up a silent “GMC” ad to signify that they were in support of the message of “service”, then it would have been more appropriate.

What are the Dolphins?
Tempest in a teapot.
Dodge does not make pickups.
Ram is its iwn brand now, separated from Dodge nearly 10 years ago.
GMC? Dodge? Same thing, I guess.
I fail to see what’s so offensive about this.

“MLK is turning over in his grave. To think that he is hawking for Ram truck sales is disgraceful”
Whats wrong with Ram trucks?
I prefer Ford, but Dodge is an ok brand as well.
I don’t necessarily picture MLK driving around in his Dodge truck however!
I thought it was a great commercial. You will notice however, that the left will mock and ridicule and of MLK’s sermons.
My favorite was the Tide Commericial.
Wow. That really happened ?!
And whats the eagle-like logo below ? Ruger ? This dealership is a mess !
I’ve never seen a black person driving a pickup truck.
Dr. King's philosophy that true greatness is achieved by stealing from others, e.g., dissertations, wives, deas.
I’m not too keen on that Washington crossing the Delaware Turnpike ad to sell insurance either. What’s next,President Lincoln peddling cars or pasta?
Gee. I didn’t catch a bit of that garbage. I didn’t watch a thing that had ANY connection to the Kneeler Bowl.
