An Amtrak passenger train collided with a freight train in South Carolina early Sunday morning, causing injuries, the national passenger railroad service said. Amtrak said in a statement, "Amtrak Train 91, operating between New York and Miami, came in contact with a CSX freight train at around 2:35 am in Cayce, South Carolina." The statement continued, "The lead engine derailed, as well as some passenger cars. There were 8 crew members and approximately 139 passengers, with injuries reported. Local authorities are on the scene responding. More information will be provided as available."

Train collisions appear to be on the rise, no? Terrorists or Antifa?
Unions.
Or drugs?
Deep state? I cannot believe that it is a serious possibility, but it is!
Makes ya wonder..........
Were there any democrats cheering for the accident this time?
Jim Quinn
Schumer is still delaying the confirmation of the new director until he gets his boondoggle tunnel under the Hudson River. Democratic pork barrel at it’s worst.
My first thought too. Gotta get the memo off the front pages, ya know.
These people have zero problem killing or injuring innocents to advance their agenda. Or hurting big biz such as Amtrak. Such scum.
Odds are astronomical two in a week.
Location is near the SC Capital at Cayce, SC. The county coroner confirms 2 deaths. This is the Railroad nightmare, 2 trains on same track going opposite directions. Tracks are owned by CSX and the controllers are probably theirs. AMTRAK rents usage to use the same but their trains are frequently required to ‘give way’ to high-speed freight.
Possible causes are signal failure, human inattention failure, controller failure or computer failure. Would guess that NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) is on its way or there already. They have the national investigation authority, I believe.
FYI: train travel in the US is much safer than driving as computed by passenger miles. If you want to see horrific train stats, go to India, we don’t hear much about their RR Accidents but they have them.
God Bless the dead & injured and their families.
I believe that totally, too. Human life means nothing to them.
I recently read that one of the current problems in railroad safety is that the National Transportation Safety Board has been without a director for quite some time now because the Dems refuse to confirm Trumps pick for the position. Its true that federal agencies dont do much, generally, but this one is in charge of investigating civilian accidents and coordinating policies in response to them.
“Diversity” hires w/o regard to competence....
Wonder if the refusal to confirm has anything to do with the Philly Amtrak crash....
Wonder what Obama’s NTSB is hiding...
Two dead
My info is that Chuckie Schumer has a hold on the nomination because the Administration is not giving an automatic 'green light' to his desire for another Hudson River tunnel into NYC. Can someone give Chuckie a crayon to go away? Green color maybe?
I was just recalling the Philly crash - it seems that when human negligence is involved, not a lot of effort is made to demand accountability (and jail time). The influence of Dem affiliated unions, perhaps?
[self-reply] Thinking about this further, I am willing to wager that this is a 'side-swipe' type event. I think that the passenger train was slow or stopped on a siding track to allow the CSX freight to go through and the AMTRAK engineer had it pulled too far forward (in the dark) so that it 'impinged' on the freight train's passage.
If this was head-on, there would be a lot more death and damage. With 'just' the lead engine and other cars derailed, the above seems to be likely. We will just have to see what is reported in the light of day.
