Letter and Tweet at link.
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are calling for an immediate meeting with officials from the FBI and Department of Justice over the claims made in the memo drafted by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.).
The letter, spearheaded by ranking member Rep. Jerrod Nadler (D-N.Y.), is directed to committee chairman Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.). In it, Nadler asks Goodlatte to arrange a meeting with FBI Director Christopher Wray and other representatives from the Justice Department to examine the "talking points" that he says Republicans are using to "discredit the work of the FBI and Special Counsel Robert Mueller."
"It is imperative that we hear directly from these officials about the security and law enforcement implications of making this information public," Nadler wrote.
"It is also important that we hear about any inaccuracies or key omissions from the Nunes document," he added.
President Trump plans to release a memo drafted by Nunes purporting to detail surveillance abuses by the federal government to be made public despite warnings from the FBI that the document contains inaccurate statements and omissions of fact.
The president is OK with it, a White House official told reporters traveling with Trump aboard Air Force One. I doubt there will be any redactions. Its in Congresss hands after that.
As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memos accuracy," the bureau said in a statement.
Nunes has dismissed the FBI's criticism and accused the bureau of running a counterintelligence operation based off of unverified information during the 2016 election.
"Its clear that top officials used unverified information in a court document to fuel a counterintelligence investigation during an American political campaign. Once the truth gets out, we can begin taking steps to ensure our intelligence agencies and courts are never misused like this again, Nunes said.
Ok, agree to meet them on 10:43 am, October 27, 2027.
The cockroaches are scrambling for cover after the spotlight has been put on them.
Hahahha. These a**holes are so scared of something. I kinda want Trump to delay releasing it so they could suffer more. And where the heck is Barrack and Hillary? Why so quiet?
This is why the Trump Administration must release the memo NOW, TODAY!!
The Waddler is obviously so worked up he’s filling his Depends every 20 minutes. For a lard @ss like him, that’s a scary thought.
how come Mueller & his massive team of lawyers didn’t uncover any of this?
I think it would be great to have a meeting with congressional leaders and the DoJ/FBI to discuss the memo. Why not next Friday, one week after it is released?
Something doesn’t quite pass the smell test here. The ‘rats seem to be intentionally overplaying their “panic” card. It seems they are being told/directed to act very scared of the memo’s release, perhaps to provide a distraction from something else, cover someone’s Obama, or it’s a big ole nothing-burger. There’s just too much drama over this to make sense at this point. (Flame on, if ya must).
Put the pizza down, Jerry. Step away from the buffet and nobody will get hurt...
Radical crooked wack jobs.
That's because it's not their job to fill in "omissions" in a House committee report.
Their job was to review the memo and identify anything in it that compromises national security or law enforcement matters.
I paraphrase Tuco: “If you’re going to release the memo, release the memo. Don’t talk.”
Nadler doesn’t scramble.....he waddles.
Release the memo, and all the collaborating documents.
No, get real. The best they can do is refuse to comment. or claim it was mischaracterized. I’m pretty sure that Nunes has all his ducks in a row.
If it doesn’t get released then we know some type of deal is going on to force them to internally clean house along with bringing the Mueller investigation to a close.
What’s the DOJ, FBI and certain GOP members afraid of? Starting a custom of an incoming administration going after wrong doing, perceived or otherwise from a previous administration.
The Democrats could have avoided this whole thing if they just asked for a special attorney to investigate. They brought this on themselves and no, it’s no reasonable. Reasonable passed Feb 1 2017.
Yes you can.
Nunes needs our support and prayers. What is happening around the release of this memo is unbelievable. I hope it is released unredacted. The alleged hype may be exceeded by the actual substance.
I have an idea, POTUS , et al; let’s screw around and drag our feet until some rogue judge decides to block it. Or is that already the plan? Can anyone detect that I’m slightly ticked off?
Of course not, that would risk "sources and methods" of classified intelligence, like relying on foreign ex-spies concocting opposition research with campaign donations laundered through a law firm to hide the origin.
Goodlatte should tell Nadler, “Sure. No problem. Set up a meeting with Wray for sometime in March. By then the memo will have been in public for a month or so, and we’ll have plenty to discuss.”
