The Senate failed this evening to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which wouldve banned abortions after 20 weeks, after Democrats filibustered the bill. In a 5146 vote, the bill failed to make it out of debate and to a final floor vote.

So sick. Abortion is big business and has nothing to do with “women’s health.”
To: aspasia
Abortion is the only right that DemocRats believe to be absolute.

Bottom line here: socialism, in practice, will not work unless population is limited and controlled. Today's Democrats/Progressives understand that, and that is why they are absolutely unyielding to any restrictions on abortion.
Remember Biden's compliments on the Chinese policy on one-child?
Progressives have/had a goal of "fundamentally changing" America from its founding concept of Creator-endowed rights to life, liberty and property to one of government-restricted rights to life and liberty; and of a government right to "redistribute" the wages and property of one citizen in favor of another/others by self-appointed elites in government.
The Progressive effort described above has only been disrupted: that goal has not ended.
Progressives are unimpressed by arguments against pain in the unborn. They are impressed only by arguments which further their goals of "changing" America from its foundations to fit their own oppressive ideology.

Of course it didn't pass. Because the Republicans and the pro-life establishment wants to keep it an issue for 2018 and continue the donation gravy train from the base.
All they have to do is pass Ron Paul's 2005 Sanctity of Life Act which would have destroyed Roe vs Wade forever and returned abortion back to the states where it belongs.
But nooooo....

The Democrats have an insatiable lust for the blood of the unborn.

Pubbies didn’t want the ban.
If they did, arrangements would have been made to pass the bill.

I would say good for Casey, Manchin, and Donnelly...but this was a safe measure and it's certain they were given permission by their leadership to do so.
