Florida ranks dead last when it comes to rating the best states in the nation. Michigan ranks No. 1, the very best state in the union.
Let that sink in for awhile. Michigan, the state that gave us the Motor City Madman, Ted Nugent and Kid Rock (the poor mans Ted Nugent), is 49 states better than Florida.
Thrillists Definitive and Final Ranking of All 50 States list ranked the states based on everything. Specifically, the states contributions to America, like inventions, food and drink, somewhat productive famous people, and unique physical beauty, among other things.

NW Florida is one of the best places in the world.
We have many retired military friends who decided you were correct. So after they retired, they moved there.
Our youngest BIL a mere 70 year puppy and his wife leave their snow bound mid west home on New Year’s Eve and drive to NW coastal Floriduh and stay there until about Easter.
When their oldest daughter’s son finishes college in 2019, they will probably just move there. They have told their siblings that they can’t stand Illinois politics, winters and summers, and they will probably just pull the plug and leave. We suggested that they legally make Floriduh their home for taxes and go back to Illinois in the spring and come out here in the summer/fall. Then, go back to Floriduh after Thanksgiving.
Hey Zenzitman, Move back. The rain here is what causes.........GREEN. You could give me a $10,000,000 mansion in “Vegas” and I would stay in my green state.
Hope that your skin doesn’t get moldy. In Vegas it drys up and falls off!
I’ve lived in DFW, which I assume Dfwgator is from, and live in North Central Florida now. There are more Yankees here, both retired and otherwise than Texas. My demographic is older folks, which comprise a large part of my area, so I don’t see the larger picture, I imagine.
Where I live, housing is inexpensive, the cost of living is low, and the area is rife with horses and golf courses. The downside can be the humidity in the summer and hurricanes.
Look at Tampa and north...west coast is fine.
Heh, you missed the spirit of his post It was in jest.
Most of those "Old People" come from the states you seem to think are better than Florida. Some transplants from NYC and the east come here and learn to drive for the first time in thier 60's and older.
The author is obviously a partisan jackass.
Dr. Pol is in Michigan. That must have turned the tide.
I bought one last year. I've always loved what we call the 'near north'... the area around the Great Lakes that is say north of the 46th in Michigan and Ontario. Hunting, fishing, offroading, boating (in small lakes and big ones) and fantastic summers (once you've figured out how to deal with mosquitoes and blackflies), great people and so much space with sparse population that the peace and quiet is unmatched. Just a few miles from our place, I can boat into a bay that has about one mile of totally isolated pristine beach that only gets visited by me and whoever I take there ....and the odd straggler about once a year who somehow manages to figure out how to get there. I unfortunately have to travel elsewhere on business on a frequent basis but this place is a real jewel that I get back to as fast as I can. My 'winter place' is about 8 hours south and in about another 3 years, it will be about a lot further south. My biggest fear with the place? Folks will eventually figure out what an incredible spot it is and it will be overrun!
Of course, he's a liberal, so take the above for what it's worth.
When cotton was king, Mississippi was one of the richest states in the nation. You’d never know that to look at it now.
within just a few miles away from NYC you can find deer, and there's a good bear "problem" even in New Jersey...
its the big cities that ruin every single state..
That’s complete nonsense just looking anywhere where there any day that week in the winter and you’ll see florida is 71 rest of the country is absolutely freezing at like seven
The beaches there are astounding and run the whole state
Give me a break
Molly Hatchet
For which I thank you with all my heart.

Good, now the Damn Yankees can all move back North.
Shhh! 30A is already too crowded.
I have had better at ethnic Italian places but Publix subs are pretty darn good and fully stuffed. You can have it made with Publix brand meats/cheese or Boar's Head for one dollar more. The Publix meats-cheeses are good enough for me. You can get white bread or a delicious whole wheat bread which I opted for when I vacationed in FL.
Michigan?
I thought Alabama was Number 1.
Sorry, wrong poll....
New? Only article on this from that site is from July of last year. Here it is;
