Oxford University has extended time for maths and computer science exams in a bid to help women get better grades. Undergraduates were given 105 minutes to complete their papers, rather 90. There was no change in difficulty or the length of questions and female students were said to do better as a result.

If you know it, you know it. I don’t think time should be used against knowledge.
That said, is anyone surprised chicks took longer to make up their minds?...
The continued dumbing down of higher education.......
>>Hoped change will reduce ‘effects of time pressure’, thought to impact women
Because the world operates at YOUR time.
Good thing we didn’t tell Einstein “Time’s Up” when he was working on the theory of relativity.
It’s not like the men got less time. The stat is likely a one or two time thing and the conclusion is useless.
This article is saying that math is more difficult for women?
Are you saying that we can’t draw universally-application conclusions from a couple of data points? Don’t you believe in Science?
I was that person who would finish the exam in 20 minutes and then spend the next 15 minutes waiting for the next person to finish, so that I wouldn’t be the first to turn it in. Finishing first would always make me think I overlooked something incredibly important.
Extending the length of the exam is nonsense. Either you know the material or you don’t. And if you know it, then you can finish most exams way ahead of the allotted time.
I’m only talking math and science exams here. Exams in squishy subjects like English are a different matter. Sometimes it’s a real challenge to figure out what the teacher is even asking, in those subjects.
...even better:
Make it an open-book test with unlimited time for the wymins.
No gain in making the little dears fret, now, is there?
Put the men in a separate room, play porno on the big screen, and play rap on speakers. Occasional random floggings with cat-o-nine-tails could add some spice as well. Have one or two severely beaten suddenly by large thugs, and dragged out for no apparent reason — and explain nothing. That will FORCE them to do well.
I guarantee you would never finish any of my engineering exams in 20 minutes. We were allotted 2 hours. Most everyone probably finished around 105 minutes, and used the remainder for answer checking.
If you either know the material or not, then what harm comes from more time?
Once again women and minorities need special help to accomplish what white men have been accomplishing for generations.
Tests are Racist... er, Sexist!!! /s
Affirmative action = "Here's my degree. I'm equal to you now, only slower and dumber."
The result of this is that women are 16% less efficient than their male counterparts.
Since time is money, a women is entitled to 16% less wage than a man because of her acknowledged built in inefficiency
What sexist pigs!
I remember engineering exams that were designed for 10-12 hours. You could answer in any order but could take no more than 2 hours to finish. The grading was based on number of completed and correct answers. I don’t ever remember anyone finishing more than half the questions.
“It only perpetuates the very bias that the women and minorities complain about.”
Rather than teaching women and minorities how to improve their performance the left makes the test easier. I suppose this implies they know that there is little or no room for improvement.
