If Democrats Take the House, They'll Impeach Trump

Historically, the first midterm elections in a new president's first term result in major losses for the president's party. The most famous recent example was in 1994, following the 1992 election of Bill Clinton. In spite of Clinton's oratorical skill, favorable media coverage, and appealing looks and smooth demeanor, the 1994 midterms were a disaster for the Democrats.

Led by the "villainous, scary" Newt Gingrich, Republicans won 54 House seats. In what came to be called the "Republican Revolution," they wrested congressional control away from Democrats for the first time since 1952. Once in control, Gingrich instituted his Contract with America programs, a series of congressional initiatives designed to implement what the Republicans felt was their electoral mandate from the populace. The liberal media hated Gingrich and the Republicans and resented their victory tremendously, ceaselessly deriding the Republican-controlled efforts and referring to it as the "Contract on America."

Similarly, during Ronald Reagan's first term in 1982, his Republican Party lost 27 congressional seats, despite Reagan's overwhelmingly lopsided presidential victory over the hapless Jimmy Carter just two short years prior. It appears that even popular presidents coming off strong wins are susceptible to profound congressional losses in the first contest out of the gate.

The Republicans may well lose control of Congress in 2018 for the first time since 2006. This is significant, because one of the things a congressional majority has the power to do is bring articles of impeachment against a sitting president.

It doesn’t matter they’ll think of something, and forget about any Supreme Court nominations getting through.

“If Democrats Take the House, They’ll Impeach Trump”

Ok, two can play your game.

~~ If the Democrats Impeach Trump, THERE WILL BE A CIVIL WAR ~~

My bet is that the patriots with guns and ammo will win against the mush-heads that still can’t figure out what bathroom they are supposed to use.

I am sick of all the threats............ let’s dance.

The time for electoral purity is the primary. The general election is the time for true Americans to vote for the best realistic candidate (in our case the republican) not for some third party goofball who has absolutely no chance to win but has many opportunities to screw up the country.

Yes, many members of the house are jerks. Get rid of them in primary season.

Rats aren't known for realistically anticipating the consequences of their actions but their reward for success is a more traditionally conservative President Mike Pence. Go for it!

They may impeach, but they’ll never remove.

And the entire country will turn into the South Side of Chicago for them...

The BEST time for electoral purity is the primary. True.

The general election is the time for true Americans to vote for the best realistic candidate (in our case the republican) not for some third party goofball who has absolutely no chance to win but has many opportunities to screw up the country.

You're giving way too much credit to the Republican who wins the primary. How are the Republicans NOT screwing up the country, exactly?

Yes, many members of the house are jerks. Get rid of them in primary season.

Believe me, I do what I can.

That is one very important reason why McConnell and Ryan need to get over their resentment of President Trump and get busy producing results.

McConnell and Ryan still detest President Trump and want him out as much as the ComDems (CommunistDemocrats). They may have toned down their rhetoric a bit but they will never do anything to get results

Decades ago the GOPe found a great way to enrich themselves, gain power, and do that without having to actually work. They think they are our betters and always will. They WANT to destroy our Constitution and our God-given freedoms.

The Democrats do not care “for what”, this is all personal for them. Trump Derangement Syndrome at its very worst.

But impeachment does NOT equal removal from office. and it shall not improve chances for Democrats in the least, either immediately or in the long term. Their only effective move would be to force Trump to resign, as was done with Nixon.

Donald J. Trump could not be forced to resign even at gunpoint. It would be a waste of the Democrats’ time and completely destroy their credibility, with less popular support than even the Whigs, as the nation plunged toward the Civil War.

I don’t believe the House gets to vote on USSC nominees.

I almost want to see it happen because like every thing else in the era of Trump, the attacks on him haven’t proven effective and only revealed that his attackers are mostly a collection of clowns.

If that does happen, then the Democrats lies will have won.

And if America votes to impeach President Trump by giving the Dems a majority in the House, kiss my buy American beliefs goodbye. Impeaching a President who is trying to bring jobs back will tell me that Americans don't care whether I buy their products to help keep them employed.

When the gop faction of the uniparty loses in November it’ll be because not enough people were willing to take 15 minutes out of their day to vote for them. Considering that the economy is doing exceptionally well, pulling out a loss will be a notable accomplishment. You could almost characterize it as Weaponized incompetence.

But it’s not incompetence. The gop has been trying to lose the 2018 election since January of last year. And in the end losers who want to lose are going to lose.

One major Trump agenda item (the tax bill) per year is not enough to protect the house and senate majorities this November.

I'm sure that Trump is able to come up with October Surprises on his own.
