Darling, you're the only person I know, who takes his fighter pilot skills to the highways and by-ways. :)
Just love my 2003 Toyota Matrix, bought it new. Hope to never get rid of it.
I’ll bet those are great photos. Unfortunately, they didn’t come through.
Got the wife a Highlander and I am driving a RAV4 - she loves the Highlander and it is very nice but I’ll probably go back to a Mercedes in the next year or so. The RAV is good for what it is but I got spoiled with my last Mercedes and as things straighten out will be able to afford another.
You can thank the unions for that.
Been known to do that!
Nice picture! Mine isn’t a tri-power; saving for fuel injection.
I read 300,000 miles is the norm for the Dodge Caravans. Whenever I get ticked off at my ‘05 Trailblazer I search for used Caravans.
My Dad bought one for Mom 14 years ago. It is still going strong and still looks pretty good. Some of the interior trim is a bit dodgy though.
Sweet... V8... what a nice sound... What’s the displacement?
I do like the fact that the three majors introduced retro muscle cars - Chevy Camaro, Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang, except they’re way out of the mortgaged working guy’s wallet range.
All we need now is some auto design engineer to take a good, long look at an old AMC Javelin AMX and go “Hmmmm..... wonder what we could do here....”
“...If you only want “the look” and not matching number/factory hotrods, ...”
Haha!!! I don’t ANY of my numbers, other than one car, ever matched.
“...mundane LeMans and 6 cyl Firebirds...”
A friend of mine just finished building his 68 LeMans droptop. Beautiful car. Spent a couple years, some sweat and tears, and a bunch of cash, but it’s a sweet ride.
“..68 Chevelle SS sedan delivery... never was such a thing”
Sounds like an El Camino ... but with four doors!!! Hah!
Apparently, whoever made up the list never gets out on the road, or the late, great 2000 Buick LeSabre would be on it. They’re everywhere, and still going strong. One of the best American cars ever produced. Wish I still had mine, but I mistakenly thought 340,000 miles was surely too many.
And if it hadn’t had a standard transmission, I’d probably still have my 1995 Geo Prism (Toyota corolla).
We bought a used 92 Dodge Caravan, about 10 years ago. The paint quality was poor that year, but man, that van was a fantastic piece of machinery! Gave it to a family member. My husband wishes he still had it.
Great point. Buick Park Avenues and LeSabres (and their successors) are everywhere in Midwest farm country. And I’ve noticed they’re popular at senior citizen homes in urban areas as well.
I think you win, How long have you owned it?
Where he lives and works, there probably has not been a vehicle stolen for at least a decade.
However, your concern is why he does not leave it where he rides his bikes few miles away. Friends or people he knows have come back to where they parked their great old vehicle to find it gone.
So he adds another 5 miles each way on his bike ride.
On and off for 30 years. It was originally owned by the local American Legion post who used it hard as a party/parade car, giving it much of its character.
My last Chevy truck I bought used and drove for 21 years 285k miles. The Chevy before that I drove for 23 years and had 300k plus.
I guess I should Buy a Honda. :)
