When coming in for a landing we pass over parts of Newark. Looks like Hiroshima of past images.
A friend in the tech field had to travel to India, and he described how at night a certain group (maybe the “untouchables”) would come out and clean up all the human feces from the sidewalks.
Absolutely gross; I love history, but will pass on visiting India - I’ll watch the documentaries instead.
Seriously, has author of this article been their in the last 5 years or any Freepers to see the Renaissance?
The Detroit bashing at got to end at somepoint.
I'll share another anecdotal story. A good friend had some friends coming in from business one couple from Boston to Detwaa. Scared, a bit apprehensive, but once they saw it, they wanted to explore more, and then they wanted to make plans to come back or they did, I can't remember which exactly, but you get the point.
Here are some Campus Martius ( Compuware sponsored ) Tree Lighting Ceremony Images, 30,000 people plus, doesn't fit with others on the list frankly....
Trump should tweet that he is considering bringing in a million at-risk people from Africa and settling them in Florida.
The MSM will go wild for the idea.
Then Trump tweets.
“Whites in Africa are at risk and will be allowed to apply for refugee status and settlement support starting in the next few months”
Wailing and gnashing of teeth ensue.
Amy place north of the mason-dixon line.
YOU ALL FORGOT ST.LOUIS !!!!! number one on my list.
When I was much younger I made the mistake of not gassing up in Illynoise (gas taxes out the wazoo and I had no credit cards) and wound up pulling up to a pump in east St. Louis gas station right off the highway.
Ever see that Twilight Zone episode where the guy starts hearing jungle noises and winds up being eaten by a lion?
It was like that, but I got out unscathed.
“Is LA still America? Probably not”
Cal8fornia isn’t.
Back when I lived in a Chicago suburb, radio talk show host Steve Dahl would often joke about a ritzy country club there called "Cambrini on the Green." If you go there, "take lots of money and flash it around so you get better service."
“...and wound up pulling up to a pump in east St. Louis gas station right off the highway...”
You didn’t do due diligence did you!
Did you see that place where it say, "Rib Tips"?
Thanks for sparing me the clickbait crap.
In Lagos, Nigeria there are signs everywhere that say: “Don’t S__t Here”.
We had a boat that was to be our escape transport to Accra. We needed to give it a run each week in the lagoon near the city. You had to dodge floating bodies and the little plastic water bags were so numerous you had to stop and reverse about every 300 yards or so to sweep the bags from the cooling water intake on the outboards.
Everything there, even if it is under construction, looks old and haggard.
That should tell you something. It truly is one of the S__tholes of the world. Everybody knows it. Does that make them racis?
Yes, it’s my understanding that Detroit bottomed out a decade or so ago. Still a long way to go, but its relative position has improved.
“Too many US cities are. Sad.”
How about an all inclusive getaway weekend in Cairo, Illinois?
I once watched a documentary about a man in India (an untouchable) whose job was to clear farmers’ fields of rats. That was his pay...the rats. He took them home to the wife to prepare. They said some could have rabies. They lived on rats. So sad. No opportunity for him or his family ever.
That culture (I realize many cultures there) do not think as we do.
“In Lagos, Nigeria there are signs everywhere that say: Dont S__t Here.”
I had a black buddy who told me he visited Lagos and had to bribe cops to let him cross the street. He worked for the US State Department.
Sure; just the idea of a caste system itself is bizarre to most Westerners. At one time parts of Europe had similar arrangements, in which trades were passed down from fathers to sons; when the US was founded, many motivated Europeans flocked here to escape that system (which was mild compared to India today).
