We have an update on the previous thread, which I'll link below. Trump denied saying "sh*thole" in the meeting, Dick Durbin came out and said Trump said it:
In the course of his comments, [President Trump] said things which were hate-filled, vile and racist, Sen. Dick Durbin says of sh*thole countries comments. He said these hate-filled things and he said them repeatedly. http://cbsn.ws/2mngMu4
Of course, he then dramatized it to the extreme:
"The most disheartening thing to me is, my belief that, that was the first time words that hateful have been spoken in the Oval Office of the White House," Sen. Dick Durbin says http://cbsn.ws/2mngMu4
However, he said that Lindsey Graham was in the meeting and stood up to Trump and that other Republicans told him they didn't like Trump's words:
NEW: "Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina spoke up and made a direct comment on what the president said. I was very proud of him. It took courage for what he did," Sen. Dick Durbin says, firing back at Pres. Trump's denial of "sh*thole countries" comment

Jake Tapper went and then talked to Flake who never misses an opportunity to trash Trump but apparently who wasn't in the meeting:
Sen. @JeffFlake to me just now:
"The words used by the president -- as related to me directly following the meeting by those in attendance -- were not 'tough,' they were abhorrent and repulsive. There is no good explanation."
Flake tells me before the @washingtonpost broke the story, he was told of the comments by @SenatorDurbin and a GOP Senator who attended the Oval Office meeting . 2/
Flake said he was told what CNN reported: that the president referred to African countries as "shithole countries," and of Haitians asked Why do we need more Haitians? Take them out - meaning take them out of the deal.
See this thread:
So how and why is President Trump denying the remarks that he reportedly said?
I have some clarifying reporting from a source familiar the meeting. I want to start by saying that this does not make what he said any more acceptable, but it might shed some light on it all. 1/
The president did not refer to Haiti as a shithole country according to the source familiar with the meeting though he DID say it about countries in Africa...
What happened, the source says, is there was a conflation of two different remarks by the president. 2/
First, when talking about temporary protected status countries as part of the immigration deal it was mentioned that Salvadorans, Hondurans and Haitians have that status. 3/
Haitians? the president said. Why do we need more Haitians? Take them out - meaning take them out of the deal. 4/
Then in a separate part of the conversation when they were referencing the diversity visa lottery, President Trump referred to people coming from Africa as coming from shithole countries.
Again, Im not saying this is better. Just that this is what happened, per my source. 5/
6/ So that might explain the kinda-pushback from POTUS today. -fin-
That was Jake Tapper. The White House didn't deny the statements last night, and it doesn't help that meeting was full of some Republicans who are conservative and like Trump (Graham likes Trump despite their disagreements) and who haven't come to his defense. Now would be the time for them to come forward.
Look, I don't like the term and have said that, but if he said it, he said it. It's best just to admit to it because denying it and getting rebuffed just gives you double the problem. The best thing to do is issue a statement immediately via Twitter or the White House clarifying his comments. It's not good to give the media a full night to call you racist without rebuttal.
The key to such a meeting is to assume the Democrats/RINOs will leak the whole thing to the press. Watch everything you say and possibly have someone video the meeting or record it so there is no deniability.
Jake Tapper went and then talked to Flake who never misses an opportunity to trash Trump but apparently who ****wasn’t in the meeting:*****
Sen. @JeffFlake to me just now:
“The words used by the president — as ****related to me**** directly following the meeting by those in attendance
Good point!
“I heard it from a guy who is a friend of a girl who works with this dude who is the next door neighbor of this kid who is related to someone who was listening at the door.”
LOL! Great graphic.
Excellent, lol!
Anyone who does not believe there is such a thing as a sh17hole country, or state, or city, has never traveled....anywhere.
.02, YMMV
KYPD
Little Dickie Durbin and Jeff mini me Mcashamey??? Oh now that settles it
That's another reason why TERM LIMITS are necessary. No more career politicians!
If he said anything remotely like this then President Trump has to wear it. He kniows that anything said to a Democrat or GOP Rat risks repeating. He also knows that although many people would use similar language in private, that this would be spun into the worst possible light by his enemies. Finally, he knows that are many patriotic Americans who fully support his policies and who voted for him, who would be offended by this language. Whether because of religious beliefs or simply because they were raised in a generation where politeness was encouraged, matters not.
The President has to pick his battles and not assume he has a completely unfettered ability to always be outrageous. Id hate to see him jump the shark over something that is completely unnecessary to his messaging and his MAGA agenda. He can be blunt and brusque and irrelevant, but he has to draw some lines.
Saint Jeffy.....politically dead man walking LMAO
Not even in the meeting but trump said it right? Now you know why the people of AZ don’t like his sorry ass Did Trump use the word Haiti? Hate to inform these two POS along with Graham these are shithole countries let these people try and get into Canada are Australia they have merit based immigration and these countries have no merit. When it comes to the people who we have been letting stay here because of a hurricane decades ago that now have to leave Canada said don’t send them to their country they will not take them Send good old Jeff a Tweet and let him know how much you like him.
@JeffFlake
So what’s the answer to the basic question, still hanging in the air a day later:
“Why ARE we bringing people in from shi*hole countries?”
Dems continue to avoid giving an answer. And their faux GOP allies (Grahamn, Flake, etc.) are enablers.
God, how I despise our government
Flake is all upset along with Graham. Was he up set with waht was said by the left everyday about the president. Like waht that low life said at the Golden Globes. How about the statement about Graham sucking d**ks. Flake had no problem with any of this. I was OK with what was said about Graham because he is a d**k sucker.
@JeffFlake
Trump inadvertently or probably more likely intentionally given the Democrats a slogan to run on for 2018 and 2020, “Make America a sh*thole”.
“IF” he said that word, it only solidifies his base support (me), since that is the very same word I use to describe such socialistic/progressive/liberalized/dictatorial countries that our liberal elites so love yet would never live in, yet seem to want to turn America into.
Trump uses terms that real Americans use. He is us. The media doesn’t get it, the RINOs don’t get it and the liberals don’t get it. He is us. It takes more than an alleged naughty word to dim my view of Trump.
Trump needs to video all meetings or hold them on live TV like he recently did.
Too many liars out there both repub and dims, who want to take him down. Get it all on video.
And for sure, do not meet with Mueller for questioning! Do. Not.Do.That. Trump must know that is a trap.
Or have that meeting on live TV.
No one can be trusted, IMO, except Trump.
Finally we have a president who speaks the truth. Flake and his cronies will soon be out of a job.
