As House Republicans propose an immigration bill conservatives could gladly support, Senate Republicans seem to be moving to the Left on immigration.
A bipartisan immigration deal to grant amnesty to so-called Dreamers and take steps toward securing the border has reportedly been reached in the U.S. Senate. The Washington Post reports that a group including Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., are presenting the framework of their DACA plan to the White House Thursday.
Weve got this bipartisan group, were at a deal, Sen. Flake told reporters Thursday. So well be talking to the White House about that and I hope we can move forward with it. Its the only game in town. Theres no other bill.

“Not sorry to see this not go through but he shouldnt have just said that hed sign whatever they put in front of him.”
That was the concern I had. I was in agreement with Trump when he said any DACA bill would have to provide for a border wall, end chain migration, and end visa lottery. Then, he said that he expected Congress to work out a compromise and that he’d sign whatever bill they presented to him, even if he did not like it. That was pretty deflating.
Trump wisely established long ago that he is a coarse and plain speaker. If people didnt want that, they didnt have to vote for him. Goodness knows Hillary could be sweetly saying everything that bipartisan bunch said yesterdayand sell us down the river.
Trump said nothing surprising and told his base he has his eye on the situation.
What I find a little surprising is that the senators couldnt or wouldnt answer his question. They didnt tell us why we need yet more unskilled immigrants. Why the illegals currently residing here need added special consideration. Why the interests of other countries are put ahead of our own. They have have their own selfish reasons and they dare not share them. Instead, they harp on his words.
SAME HERE...
Talk is easy, but TRUMP MUST BACK UP HIS BLUSTER.
I still have doubts. I won’t be comfortable until this mess is done.
If Trump holds firm, I’ll give him all the credit in the world.
LOL
Yea, I have fun with his name - but my understanding is that Trump does call him on a regular basis. And even if he is a lower-life, knuckle-dragger (LOL), he usually is in synch with the base, so he does provide some useful help resisting that DC cocoon.
Yep - Trump putting pressure on the Congress to do its job because he knows that neither side has the will to do the right thing. No surprise that Linda and the Flake put something forward that would be sure to piss the base off if Trump fell for it....
Evidently you are better at negotiations than Trump. When did you earn your first billion?
Chelsea Handler is deeply disappointed.
GOOD.
If a rat like dirtbag Durbin is involved you can bet he’s there to secure a million new votes for the rat party. Don’t be bipartisan, do what’s right. Durbin is there to reward criminal aliens at the expense of US citizens.
Trump Tweets today for those who thought he would “sell us out”.
The so-called bipartisan DACA deal presented yesterday to myself and a group of Republican Senators and Congressmen was a big step backwards. Wall was not properly funded, Chain & Lottery were made worse and USA would be forced to take large numbers of people from high crime ..

.countries which are doing badly. I want a merit based system of immigration and people who will help take our country to the next level. I want safety and security for our people. I want to stop the massive inflow of drugs. I want to fund our military, not do a Dem defund .
Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 12, 2018
.Because of the Democrats not being interested in life and safety, DACA has now taken a big step backwards. The Dems will threaten shutdown, but what they are really doing is shutting down our military, at a time we need it most. Get smart, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

“I dont trust politicians, Trump included.”
Trump is not a politician, that’s why he was elected President.
No! Eating crow is too good for Coulter and our vapor locked freepers.
“There is no acceptable deal on DACA. These people are illegal aliens. Deport them!”
Amazing how simple this is!
When we understand the bs and lies about the wonderful DACA’s pushed by their pimps on both sides of our congress and left wing mediots.
The DACA’s are illegals.

Rep King Warns Trump: DACA Illegal Aliens Cannot Be Legalized W/out Sacrificing the Rule of Law

As negotiations are underway between the White House and establishment Republicans to potentially give amnesty to illegal aliens, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is warning the president against such any plan that includes amnesty.
In a post on Sunday, Kinga staunch pro-American immigration reformer who has long opposed mass immigrationurged Trump to steer clear of a plan that would begin with giving amnesty to nearly 800,000 illegal aliens shielded from deportation by the President Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
According to King, such an amnesty deal, even if it is coupled with a plan to reduce legal immigration levels to benefit Americas working and middle class, would cause a surge at the U.S.-Mexico border of illegal aliens while continuing to circumvent the Rule of Law:
Kings assertion that a DACA amnesty would lead to more illegal immigration is readily backed up by border-crossings in November 2017 and the rate of illegal aliens coming to the southern border when Obama was implementing the DACA program.
Between Fiscal Year 2011 and Fiscal Year 2014, the same period when DACA was being implemented, border-crossings nearly tripled as illegal aliens sought to gain the temporary amnesty status that came along with having DACA protection.
Likewise, in November 2017 when Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and establishment Republicans and Democrats endorsed a plan to give amnesty to DACA illegal aliens, border-crossings ticked back up to Obama-era levels, as Breitbart News reported:

This was obvious bait and they took it!
Unfortunately this is true. There are some decent hold-outs left in the House (Paul Ryan notwithstanding) - the Freedom Caucus came up with an Immigration Bill that we could all go along with (no chain migration, ending the lottery, decreasing the quota on the total numbers allowed), while Senate Republicans more or less want more or less the same immigration policy as the Democrats.
My point, I think we should question what ALL pols are doing and hold them accountableeven my beloved President Trump. Again, Trust, but verify because future of our country is at stake.
excellent post!
Since we are still in a free country, we do not all have to think in lockstep. We can disagree with our president, we could question what he says, we can worry that he wont do what he says or that he will do what he says! And in light of him saying things contrary to his campaign promises, we would be a fool not to question What he said after last weeks meeting.
Blind obedience is not required in this country, yet. Blind obedience is what liberals do with their party. But as conservatives, we are able to think for ourselves and hold our politicians feet to the fire. Thats the difference between us and them.
These Senate open border turds need replacing. It is the Senate where we need to focus on right now. People like Flake are just giving a middle finger to us all before he leaves.
