Republican Rep. Mia Love (Utah) on Thursday called for President Trump to apologize for those he "wantonly maligned" in his reported comments about immigrants from "shithole countries."

Love, who was born to Haitian parents, said the president's comments about those from Haiti and African countries were "unkind, divisive, elitist and fly in the face of our nation's values."

"My parents came from one of those countries, took an oath of allegiance to it, and took on the responsibilities of everything that being a citizen comes with," she said in a statement.

"The President must apologize to both the American people and the nations he so wantonly maligned," Love said.

I voted for Trump, and support his policies. I want him to be re-elected. That said, this was a mistake, and one he can rectify with an apology. He can say this was an off the record and frank policy discussion ( he had a point, actually) and he believes this reference was inappropriate.

He has nothing to loose by doing this. It is pointless simply defending everything he does just for the point of defending him. Everyone looses credibility.

Here we go again. I can’t wait to hear was Senator sAsse from Nebraska has to say about this. Mittens no doubt will be weighing in, too.

She’ll be around for decades. It’s the LDS gangs chosen one. They jerrymandered the boundaries after she lost the first time to ensure a win for her. The whole thing was a set up and you’ll be dealing with her for the next 30+ years. Glad I left that state when we did. It’s the most beautiful and yet the most F****d up.

NOPE; don’t think so, a sh!thole country is a sh!thole country (been in lots of them).
Apologizing for stating a fact doesn’t make it any less a fact.

Being an elitist separates and raises one above the Ameritrash.

It is ok, admirable even, to not wallow in the mud with inferior pigs. One way of measuring inequality is to divide the population into those that are superior and those that are inferior.

Such a division and recognition of de facto inequality is good. Hiding inferiority is detrimental to the rising of the inferior to a status of superior

Trump had a valid policy point - different standards are applied by race. We have members in our family from China and Holland. I can tell you from first hand experience that immigration threats people from these countries differently than those from Mexico and Central America.

He has nothing to loose by doing this.

Yes he does.

He allows his opponents to set the tone of the conversation, and *loses* credibility by admitting an error before those who will use such an admission against him.

I would tend to agree. The immigration system was set up to be inclusive. It’s still a system that takes years for you to gain citizenship and I’m absolutely fine with that, because it still works. The fact of the matter is we are “a melting pot” and so certainly if the statement is accurate from the POTUS he needs to apologize.

POTUS, who I voted for, has a problem with his word choices. I’ve got an old salty tongue from my Navy days and also spout off colorful language when I shouldn’t. Trump and I are on that similar playing field for sure. Difference is my audience is used to me and considerably smaller.

You are correct - we have people in our family from some of these countries, and Trump’s description is apt. It’s the part about not wanting these people that bothers me.

Hey, Mia Love. Trump is not divisive, unkind or elitist. Add "hate America," and you are describing the progressives. Trump cares about this country, and you not so much. Are you sure you are even a Republican?

I don't recall you going after Obama, but I admit I could well have missed it considering how MSM fawned over him and censured negative facts.

And that’s the problem. There are 6+billion people in the world, most of which want to come here, so where to draw the line? Even Obama recognized this.

Some people have horrible listening skills or simply dont listen and just react.

He didn’t call anyone a s-—hole. He said the countries they’re coming from are s-—holes, and he’s right.

When you state the TRUTH, there is no apology necessary.
Have you ever been to any of those SH!THOLE countries?
I HAVE, and they are sh!tholes.
