From Walmart Corporate Blog:
Weve got some really good news to share today. As you know, the President and Congress have approved a lower business tax rate. Given these changes, we have an opportunity to accelerate a few pieces of our investment plan. We plan to continue investing in you, in our customers through lower prices, and in our future--especially in technology to help improve your jobs and the experience for our customers.
So, were pleased to tell you that were raising our starting wage to $11 an hour for Walmart U.S., Sams Club, Supply Chain, eCommerce and Home Office hourly associates effective in February.

Funny, I’m not sick of winning at all!
(This story talks about their starting wage, but what about the current employees making more than that?)
Not exactly great. You have to be an employee for 20 years to get the 1,000 dollars. And the raise is beginning employment from 9 to 11 dollars, but quite a few already make that and more. It’s be better to say EVERYONE gets a 1.50 raise to make it equitable. I get that it is cool that they are throwing out crumbs but let’s be honest about it.
Tax cuts will cause Armageddon, right Nancy?,
Yay! The cashiers will be happier.
Yay! The cashiers will be happier.

How long before we hear accusations that Trump is buying votes?
Another story to be ignored by the Trump hating media. Imagine if this happened during their messiah?
Ok, I understand it is hard. Ok so someone hired in 2010, now FINALLY makes 11.00 an hours after 8 years of employment. Now a person hired in 2018, will get that same 11.00. See? Perhaps make the 2010 guy 13.50 an hour and the guy in 2018 11.00. Not so hard now.
hard ? That mostly happens everywhere and has been happening for a long time. Plus those not making 11 bucks an hour yet will be brought up to 11 bucks an hour.
You recommend walmart to do something different with their money. Seems like a liberal policy to me. Why not make it 5 bucks an hour raise across the board ?
Sounds like what comes from accross the aisle.
Now do you get the Huh ? or is that too hard ?
There are plenty of warehouse jobs around here 13 dollars an hour or more to start and I heard the local Aldi hires people to stock their shelves for 12 dollars an hour.
Walmart folks need to keep up with competition but it does seem like some good news.
have you been to a walmart?
lol
If it weren’t for Walmart most of their employees would be on welfare, at a crack den, or a retirement home.
MOST I said, not all.
And do you know what a Walmart warehouse job pays?
https://www.glassdoor.com/Salaries/warehouse-worker-salary-SRCH_KO0,16.htm
National average for Walmart warehouse worker is 15 dollars an hour.
Amazon pays the least amount at 13 per hr.
Pretty sure this 9 to 11 dollar raise is for their retail employees.
The number of American workers that are going to realize that the tax cut is good for them will continue to grow.
The old folks used to call that sort of talk, 'looking a gift horse in the mouth.'
If you are going to be one of 3 cashiers open with 19 lanes, you might as well be better paid for it!
My son has worked at Wal-Mart for four years; he started at just over $8.00 an hour. Earns $12.00 in the summer and earns $11.20 an hour now. I wonder what raises those employees who are making $11.00 or less will get.
Wait just a minute . . . I saw on FOX News this morning that 49% of the US population think that this fantastic economy is a direct result of Barack Obama’s presidency and only 40% attribute it to President Trump. WTF???
In n Out in AZ has a sign for $12/hr starting.
