PARIS — Actress Catherine Deneuve joined 99 other French women claiming that men are being unfairly targeted by sexual misconduct allegations, adding that the #MeToo campaign amounted to "puritanism" and was fueled by a "hatred of men."
In the aftermath of accusations against Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein, many women took to social media to share their stories of being sexually harassed or assaulted, using the #MeToo hashtag worldwide as well as #balancetonporc — or #SquealOnYourPig — in France.

Its sexism but it really is a a denial of free speech. I understand employment at will but outside of that, you can say any damned thing you want with zero legal consequences in this country. There is no denying that.

She is right, but it really bothers me when people have a good point, then veer off course into a convoluted side issue.
This is not evidence of “puritanism”. These people are lying. Christians are not liars. Satan is the Great Deceiver.

Hmmm, I’m more likely to think that some of it is driven by self-hatred from having done things to advance one’s career that are shameful in retrospect.
She will be thrown under the bus , just like Bridget Bardot , when she denounced the Islamization of France. PC is a must .
I think here “Puritanism” is used to describe those who seek to continuously purify like the Khmer Rouge and not the Puritans of the Algernon Sidney and Cotton Mather stripe.
At least somebody here knows the rules.
That could be, but if that was her thought, I wish she would have used another word to address the Leftist practice of demonizing and purges.
I remember watching an interview with Angie Dickinson years after she starred in Police Woman. She mentioned how feminists would write her to take on a more active role that included beating up men and other loony liberal fantasies. She mentioned how she didn’t want to portray that type of role. She finished with the interview “I like men” or something similar. Liberal women are the real sexists of society.
She’s being excoriated by the bitter hag who are hurting their cause more than helping.
Some women like to have a man acknowledge their niceness. This is not assault; this is human nature.

I think she’s actually hitting the Left’s hypocrisy bigtime. They were, after all, the ones who characterized opponents of the “Sexual Revolution” as “puritans” back in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
