Al Gore comes from somewhere in Outer Space. So what?
If that was a remote possibility then it would have been mentioned in his "classic" book/movie An Inconvenient Truth. But, while that little gem contained a lot of "information" about what we could expect as our planet warmed due to our own evilness, there was not one word said about widespread cold-snaps and winter storms being a symptom of global warming.
If people cannot see by now that these morons are simply altering their predictions to match the weather, then there is no hope for them.

Why is it so cold?
Well as you can see the eastern USA and Canada is the coldest, as referenced to normal than anywhere else in the world including parts of the Arctic and even Antarctica.
Temperatures are way warmer than normal in Europe and across Russia through Siberia and Alaska.
In the Southern Hemisphere, it is Summer and a little above normal in temperatures. Antarctica’s summer temperatures today are much warmer than normal.
The Earth has a remarkable way to normalize the energy, so if it’s brutally cold in the USA, it means they are enjoying a beautiful winter somewhere else.
The reason for this is because of the jet stream diving down straight from the Arctic and into the USA just east of the Rockies. This very deep trough in the eastern USA is responsible for the bombo-cyclone genesis that started in Florida and moved up the east coast. Bombo is a term we use for a very rapid dive in surface pressure. Cyclone is another word for low pressure system. And Genesis means the making of or development of or the beginning of.
Even with the brutally cold temperatures here, the northern hemisphere was still averaging, yesterday of 0.9 degrees above normal, while the planet is still averaging 0.6 degrees above normal.
This is a significant departure from normal and day after day the departure from normal is almost always the same.
This is the Earth remarkably balancing it’s energy. The problem is the Earth has a fever and this average value keeps rising.
In fact, there is such an extreme contrast in temperatures of way above normal and way below normal and recently we had to add another color to each end of this spectrum because these extremes are getting more and more extreme.
This is, yes, caused by Global Warming and why we say even a cold snap is made worse by Global Warming because the Earth has to balance out the extreme cold air with an area of extreme warm air somewhere else.
The reason for this is because the Arctic is warming faster than the mid-latitudes and this creates less of a contrast between north and south, which in turn affects the jet stream.
The jet stream has been observed to be slowing down. The jet stream at 36 thousand feet or so should be going 100 to 150 knots but it’s gradually slowing down below that.
This causes two problems. The jet stream is not moving it’s troughs and ridges across the northern hemisphere as fast causing areas to have prolonged heat or cold waves, and extended wet and dry periods causing both floods and droughts. And the other problem is a fast jet steam makes this river of air relatively straighter. But now the jet stream is allowed to meander more making higher ridges bringing warm air to the poles and making deeper troughs bringing cold air further south. And these deep troughs really are responsible for this extreme weather event.
This nor’easter still would have happened but Global Warming made it worse and made it develop further south.
The heat wave in Siberia would have still happened but global warming made it worse by bringing the heat further north and also causing it sit for longer periods of time. Give me a sad face so I can tell if you read this whole post.

It’s currently -11 degrees at my home, up from the -20’s we saw a few days ago. Tomorrow night it’ll hit -19 with wind chills in the -40 range.
I love it. Should ensure at least a quarter of the middle eastern ‘refugees’ the progressives brought into our state will be hitting the road this summer and heading for warmer areas.

I understand Algore is so worried about the seas rising he bought some beachfront property in North Carolina not too long ago.
