Rosenstein, Wray pressed Ryan to narrow Nunes document request: report
The Hill ^ | 01-05-2018 | Max Greenwood

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray met with House Speaker Paul Ryan this week to request that Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee narrow the scope of a document request, according to a Politico report.

The committee had issued a request for documents and witness interviews related to the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. In the meeting with Rosenstein and Wray, Politico reported, Ryan suggested that the department release the full trove of requested documents.

The two sides eventually reached a deal, and Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, announced that the Justice Department had agreed to "provide the committee with access to all the documents and witnesses" it had requested.

The meeting, which came at the request of Rosenstein and Wray, came as some congressional Republicans step up their criticism about the Justice Department's handling of the Russia probe, which, in particular, is looking at possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

AshLee Strong, a spokeswoman for Ryan, told Politico that the speaker "always expects the administration to comply with the House’s oversight requests, and he will support his chairmen when they make them."

Some Republican lawmakers have raised questions about partisanship in the Russia probe and whether investigators are unfairly targeting President Trump. Democrats, on the other hand, have accused Republicans of trying to protect the White House from a probe into potential wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, Mueller “The Meathead” is grabbing all documents for any purpose.

“And yet again, Crazy Uncle Jeff (Sessions) is AWOL and not a factor. What the hell does Sessions do for a living anyway?”

He’s very busy trying to make life miserable for medical and
recreational marijuana users. Next thing you know he’ll be going after beer drinkers because as we all know beer is a gateway drug to vodka.

Can you tell me one element of Trump's agenda that has been blocked by Mueller?

The biggest obstacle to Trump's agenda is Congress, not some half-cocked investigation into non-existent crimes.

I suspect you are right, but it is hard to say. Comey and Mueller were both extremely opposed to Stellar Wind, which was the NSAs hoovering of individual citizens private financial and phone data.

They nearly quit over it.

I agree with them on that.

It’s a funhouse mirror. I don’t think anybody knows what’s really going on, but it seems clear China expects to be at war with us within the next few weeks.

You’d never really know that from what’s out there.

I'm with you.

The Mueller "investigation" was intended to harpoon The Donald but it's done nothing but make him stronger - like Godzilla hitting the power lines.

Put me down as supporting the Mueller probe.

If you're going to use a Godzilla metaphor, even if he gets stronger, the establishment keeps prodding him into further destruction of Tokyo.

We want the establishment to back off of Trump and let his presidency operate; the establishment wants to keep prodding Trump into power lines, hoping that one of them, eventually, will be fatal. If not fatal, they hope a path of destruction in Trump's wake will turn off voters in 2020.

It's past time for the Mueller probe to shut down. We need to let the bad actors fall, even if that means rebuilding the FBI.

Watched a movie today about another FBI investigation where a reporter made that claim to a leaker in the top echelon of the FBI,the whole thing will collapse, but he said the leaker already knew that.
He was trying to save the country.
The movie was released in September,2017,the title Mark Felt, the man who brought down the White House.
I had never heard of that movie,Liam Neeson plays Mark Felt.
If you watch that movie you will swear they are dealing with The Hillary Clinton,Barack Obama,Eric Holder administration.
It is uncanny,remarkable

I read somewhere (CTH?) that ONE document was redacted for “National Security reasons.” Sundance didn’t seem to conclude there was a sellout.

IMO (FWIW): Ryan pointed out that the Trump Administration (includes DOJ & Congressional majority)holds all the cards. He agreed to a single document redacted. Could be it _was_ sensitive or could be just tactics in that he gave away something that’s not important or not important, yet, or will come out via another venue. As I have understood it from various sources, mostly CTH, FBI (Rosenstein) wanted to redact the lot and w/h a bunch.

I think Wray was along as Rosensteins’s boss and I don’t think he’s Deep State. He was present to bring home to Rosenstein that the game is changed and Trump’s people have the power. Rosenstein was on a bureaucratic leash called a pension.

Nunes stuck with it all the way through a thorough investigation and came out clean and got back to work immediately. When has that ever happened, before? The intel was validated. Nunes picked up where he left off.

BTW, Manafort is suing and everything I’ve read about Flynn lately looks like he’s going to emerge smelling like a rose to our side.

A lot of the people involved will cut deals. That’s how it works, from the corner drug boys up to the top of the UN. First to squeal gets the deal. Last one out loses.

Nothing’s perfect. Meanwhile, Donald marches forward.

It’s probably more like they told little Paulie how it’s going to be.
___________
Why assume Wray & Rosenstein are buddies? Wray is Rosenstein’s boss & a Trump man. All the power resides with Congress and the Executive. Ryan may be a main chancer, but he isn’t dumb or suicidal. He’s not going to forego a feather in his own cap, especially when all the financial strings to the Deep State, the Left, etc, et al, are gone.

Right now, a smart chancer sees Trump as the winner and will go with the strong horse.

It’s not over, but my sense is we are at the end of the beginning and now s#!+ is about to become real. I’d love the satisfaction of seeing everyone of the perps in prison, but I’m a pragmatist. Ruin them and kick them out of power and get on with the reorganization and rebuilding. The lesson will be taken by the punters, no matter what they say in public.

I think you are right. Trump is still getting his way. The investigation has taken away from totally focusing on the agenda. The long-term plan is to stop Trump’s agenda and Mueller’s investigation could block other items promised during the election campaign.
