Hugh Hewitt Predicts: Kamala Harris Will be 2020 Dem Prez Nominee
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

I’ve got a beef with Hugh Hewitt. Why does he exclude people from US conservative publications from his “Young Guns” panel on his Saturday morning MSNBC show? His panel today, as it has been before, was comprised of reporters from the Daily Mail, Washington Post, NBC News and Politico. All but the Daily Mail lean left, and the Daily Mail is a UK-based outfit, though it’s been expanding operations into the US. Why not someone from, e.g, Breitbart, National Review, Daily Caller, Weekly Standard, Commentary, etc?

Putting that aside for now, Hewitt quickly managed to work in a presidential prediction. He opened the Young Guns segment by asking whether various controversies will still be relevant in 2020, “when President Trump is facing Senator Kamala Harris for the White House.”

This would be a good bet.
The Dems would use her to try to put together the same coalition of voters that twice elected Obama. I’m very certain though that she has a much bigger paper trail of bad positions than Obama had.

I’ve been saying for some time that it will be Kamala the Kommie.

Probably seems like something the Democrats would try to do. I am not sure that it would be very shrewd. I mean, they have California sewed up already, yet her candidacy would not be very attractive to most of the states Trump won in 2016. I am not sure what kind of inroads she would make.

In their mind to ‘win’....it has to be a black or Latino candidate.

Harris and Julian Castro are the two obvious ones at the top of the list. McAuliffe from Virginia will get thrown around but he has zero charm in Iowa (I think both Castro and Harris) also have zero chance in Iowa.

Honestly, it’s the most we can hope for.

The woman is an idiot, and it shows.

I honestly believe she’s stupider than Warren.

Hewitt is an Ivy-league elitist. His ineffaceable “Joker” grin is maddening.

True. Hewitt has carefully crafted his career. He was part of a CNN panel for a presidential primary debate in 2015, and was largely excluded from the questioning.

But rather than complaining, he described himself as a “wide receiver” who didn’t get many opportunities but made the most of them.

Agree.

She’s a two-fer: female and black. They’ll push the “war on women” lies and get blacks out to vote skin color. They need super big black turnout and follow the Obama plan - get the votes and ignore them for the next 4 years. Doesn’t seem to matter to blacks they’re better off under Trump. They always vote race over self interest.

Hewitt is often wrong so this would be an indication that Kamala Harris will not be the candidate.

I wonder what ops research might turn up. I see her more as a VP candidate so the Dems can touch all the identity politics bases.

Kamala Harris will be able to exploit the "black woman" victimology if she is called to the carpet on any issue. So in that regard she is a smart choice for the Democrats.

Although, I know some Sicilians that are darker than she is.

I am hoping the Democrats nominate Shiela Jackson Lee instead.

IF she is the person the dems will rally around, why not take here out now and put the dems in disarray? Don’t let them build a narrative around her that gullible people will fall for.

If a black woman like Kamala fails in 2020, they can try a disabled transgendered Hispanic in 2024.
