Congress has NOT passed ‘amnesty’ they funded Bambie's executive order to their religious affiliations. Now to undo Obama’s executive order puts the ‘problem’ in the hands of the judiciary, because somebody will sue.

Any partial amnesty discussion must be predicated on completion of the wall and ENDING chain migration, anchor babies and lottery immigration. Amnesty will allow green card status only with no chance of ever becoming voters and their sprong will never vote either.
Legislation must include a clear and unambiguous statement that the Federal legislation is intended to trigger the Supremacy Clause making unlawful any and all state or local sanctuary actions contrary to Federal law. Require full cooperation from those state and local governments with severe penalties to governing individuals in the states who disregard the Federal legislation. It must be clear and unambiguous that immigration is the province of the Federal government only.
Comprehensive legislation must walk back the unlawful acts taken by state and local authorities or no deal: the wall will be built by the majority and the DemoRats get nothing. DACA people are ILLEGAL ALIENS and they along with their progeny will obtain 3 year renewable green cards if they stay crime free and allow them limited access to benefits which actual US citizens might be entitled to.
This is the line Trump should hold through the mid-terms. It’s a winner. And after Trump Republicans increase their power in Congress, the Democrats will agree.
As Trump has undone Obama's EO's, so will the next Democrat President. So instead, Trump is trying to make it the law by getting congress to act. Is that so hard to understand?

They’re not going anywhere. If he ends chain migration and some of the other silly immigration things. If he really does get a merit based system and really does build the wall you should only see this as a HUGE win because they’re not going anywhere regardless of all the belly aching from the other side. They’re not the priority.

While we’re at it, can we end dual citizenship? I don’t understand why it’s perfectly legal for a dual citizen to vote in the USA and in the other country, but a USA-only citizen can’t vote in, say, NY and FL if s/he owns homes in both. How does that make sense?
Perhaps we could have a ‘heritage’ citizenship, whereby they can for one or two generations (not endless generations) be recognized as XXX-American but not with voting rights in both countries
