Total agree. We need this to be perceived as highly politically incorrect and unpatriotic by all the masses and politicos. Enough so that it hurts business. But as long as we let even the smallest of such policies to slide it will continue.
Shame on AT&T - they should be bludgeoned into shame with this act.
Yes. No more immigrants period.
Ban immigration for 20 years to let the third worlders assimilate.
“This is not by mistake and its not for just the money.
Were being exterminated.”
IMHO, no.
They need us to produce KWH and/or Quatloos.
Not really. 573 H-1B visas? In a company with 278,000 employees? Not exactly huge, unusual or new for a company of this size in today’s workforce. It’s a wake-up call for our young millennials.
What do you expect Trump to do about it?
M & A typically harms customers, service, employees, communities, pricing and innovation because it reduces competion. The only beneficiaries are incompetent ceos like *Carly Fiorina (HWP-CPQ) who use them to justify massive premature bonuses and the Wall St hucksters and arbitrageurs.
Based on this it appears to be salary rather than redundancy: "Americans expecting to be handed a pink slip at the company told AppleInsider that they were given three weeks to find a lower-paying job inside the company or be permanently laid off."
>>>Are you suggesting if we want American companies to hire American workers, we must purchase their products, and if not, we shouldn’t bitch about them hire foreign nationals instead of Americans?
Nope. Bitch all you want about the hiring of foreign workers. I’m suggesting you shouldn’t celebrate the demise of the cable industry and then bitch when that industry lays off workers.
Nahhh, ALIEN Telephone and Telegraph. Then they don't have to change all their letterhead and ads...
You’re the guy who supports paying money to watch commercials which have already been paid for, after big cable billed it as commercial free decades ago. And then you suggest people who cut their cables shouldn’t complain when they hire more foreign nationals to push down our throats.
That’s how I’m reading your comments.
H1B has decimated the American IT industry. As an Industrial Controller programmer, I’m next.
Making one small change would suffice.
If a foreigner offers a premium skill that no American can fulfill, then we need them.
A premium highly skilled employee - regardless of country of origin - deserves a premium wage.
Make it so those eeeeevil corporations don't take unfair advantage of our brothers across the seas, every H-1b must be paid at least a 25% premium above the prevailing wage.
If they aren't worth that premium, the company doesn't really need them, they can hire a slightly less skilled American and make do...
There must be a SCADA jobs out there, scads and scads of them...
Let me make it clear for ya.
That's not what I'm talking about and you know it as well as I.
I don't give a damn if ATT goes belly up. If they have to lay off people because their product is a con-job rip off, so be it. Just don't tell me they have to replace laid off workers with foreign nationals. That's bull sh*t.
>>>. Just don’t tell me they have to replace laid off workers with foreign nationals
These are really separate issues. Those being laid off are not being replaced by H1Bs.The ones being laid off are largely inside and outside maintenance. They aren’t being replaced at all.
ATT is firing Americans in one part of their company and then turn around and hire foreign nationals for another part of the company. I get the scam. It’s not complex.
I’m just not buying it. No sale.
You are exactly correct.
Have an ATT friend with 20 years being laid off, while a dozen temps in his same group with 1-2 years are exempt. Needless to say he is PO’d, and I recommended he contact HR at my company. Top notch worker, employed by a BS PC company. I should know, as they did the same to me 11 years ago....
