Was the Steele Dossier the FBI’s ‘Insurance Policy’?
National Review ^ | 12/23/2017 | ANDREW C. MCCARTHY

Clinton campaign propaganda appears to have triggered Obama administration spying on Trump’s campaign.

The FBI’s deputy director Andrew McCabe testified Tuesday at a marathon seven-hour closed-door hearing of the House Intelligence Committee. According to the now-infamous text message sent by FBI agent Peter Strzok to his paramour, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, it was in McCabe’s office that top FBI counterintelligence officials discussed what they saw as the frightening possibility of a Trump presidency.

That was during the stretch run of the 2016 campaign, no more than a couple of weeks after they started receiving the Steele dossier — the Clinton campaign’s opposition-research reports, written by former British spy Christopher Steele, about Trump’s purportedly conspiratorial relationship with Vladimir Putin’s regime in Russia.

I think the insurance policy was inserting votes....somehow.

I do think votes were inserted....just not quite enough.

One of them that got me was a state which Trump did win but all of a sudden, they found 20,000 more votes for Hillary.

The words “insurance policy” are the 2018 equivalent of the moment Alexander Butterfield disclosed that conversations in the White House had been taped.

We must find out what exactly was meant by those words. The Republicans should be relentless about this. It should be used during upcoming political campaigns.

The “insurance policy” was “insurance” against roughly half the voters in the United States.

I’m thinking it might involve vote fraud, organized and sanctioned at the highest levels of government, and operated by the heads of Cabinet agencies.

No it wasn’t the insurance policy, there is a deeper problem as to why they took this risk. What are the crooks really hiding?

Right on target wiht the realization that the “insurance” email by Strozk reminded you, as well as me, of Watergate when FBI agent Alexander Butterfield revealed there was a White House taping system - this was the moment the lights came on throughout the house of ill repute. Strozk’s remarkably boneheaded use of the emails to communicate with his moll, combined with Asst. AG Ohr meeting with Simpson of the dossier fame and Ohr’s wife working for Simpson at the time it was created, combined wiht Mrs. Ohr showing a sudden interest in ham radio at the age of 60 (everyone I know who was a ham radio operator was “into” it since they were teeenagers and got their licenses as fast as they could) all tell me all I need to know: a cabal in the most trusted agencies of the federal government, FBI and Justice, decided to swing the election to the candidate of their choice by eliminating her liability and building up some nonsensical collusion theory against her rival as “insurance”. The fact that they took this to the federal court charged with issuing surveillance warrants tells me this is a gross misuse of their trust and powers, it was a fraud on the court, and the judges of the FISA court ought to be considering contempt citations against the lot of them. And as McCarthy notes, they were certain she would win and this could all be hidden in the wormhole of history; I believe God intervened in this, both in the election results and in the ensuing exposure of this gang of deep staters who have soiled their positions and abused our trust.

Always thinking, those fellows in the Deep State part of the FBI. Yup, they sure thought it through.

Hillary wasn’t supposed to lose. Trump would have been a footnote on history, and none of this would have ever surfaced.

here's an interesting excerpt from the piece that stumbles around the question Liz proposed the congressional committee should be asking mccabe & strzok: "did the insurance plan include an attempted assassination"?

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that, “according to people familiar with his account,” Strzok meant that it was imperative that the FBI “aggressively investigate allegations of collusion between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia.” In laughable strawman fashion, the “people familiar with his account” assure the Journal that Strzok “didn’t intend to suggest a secret plan to harm the candidate.” Of course, no sensible person suspects that the FBI was plotting Trump’s assassination; the suspicion is that, motivated by partisanship and spurred by shoddy information that it failed to verify, the FBI exploited its counterintelligence powers in hopes of derailing Trump’s presidential run.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

this "clarification" by national review author seemed to come out of nowhere, imo.

No. It was not the insurance policy. All the facts point to the conclusion that the dossier was drummed up as a “color of law” basis for the FISA warrant. contrary to the ridiculous credulous of this clueless author there’s no evidence to show anyone in the FBI or DOJ ever believed a single one of the dossier’s claims. He also never met a liberal if he thinks they needed a dossier to frighten them into loathing the prospect of a Trump presidency.

No, the dossier was not the insurance policy; it was the pretext for the insurance policy. Spying was the insurance policy, just as Watergate was intended by a “small group” in the Nixon campaign to be their insurance policy.

There's a pretty substantial outline of what the 0bama FBI and DOJ tried to do to Trump in place now. All we're waiting for is an official acknowledgment by the DOJ and FBI that a criminal conspiracy against an opposition political candidate and elected president happened, who all was involved, and the process that will bring these criminals to justice.

All the screeching you hear on the left that Trump is going to “fire Mueller” in nothing but their cognitive dissonance in the face of what is about to happen.

Assassinations? Oh, that's the CIA's specialty.
