If you people in NJ want lower taxes, you ought to follow the money and see where it’s all going, ‘cuz your state’s expenses can’t be that much different than other states where property and income taxes are lower.

I’m from Jersey, and lived for five years in West Orange (literally next door to Livingston). Short Hills is on the other side, and is even wealthier than Livingston.
All that I can say to these folks is, “Elections have consequences!” You people, by voting in Leftists on the federal, state and local level have made living in your area unaffordable for most, and only affordable for probably half of the folks that DO live there because of the federal tax subsidy going back to your state and local governments. Well, finally the rest of the country got sick and tired of subsidizing YOUR government, and took the goodies away.

It's clear that the tax bill will lower taxes for people who do not itemize, which is just about everyone who doesn't own their own home; i.e, the not so rich. But my rich neighbors are all of a sudden for fairness; fairness for themselves.

I’m in Morris County. My property taxes exceed the cap of deductabilty, but I’m OK with it. I think the increase in national economic activity from this tax plan will benefit other investments. The downside is that this incoming a$$hat, Gov Murphy, has promised higher taxes. The push back from people with high property taxes may compel him to think otherwise. Then again, it’s a Dem legislature, so probably not. The fiscal problems stem from over commitment to state union pensions which Christie tried to address, and is why he became vilified.
You and you alone voted those tax and spend artists in your state, now you get the bill for all the policies you demanded.
Its high time you pay for what you wanted rather than in low or no tax states pick up your bills nationally on more liberal “public services” you now want for the country.
As for us in flyover country, we demand fiscal sanity and vote our tax and spend libs eventually!
