Analysis: Jerry Richardson is added proof that owners are NFL's biggest problem
Tribune Review (Suburban Pittsburgh) ^ | 19 December 2017 | New York Daily News

I'm not sure, but more diversity in ownership would be a good start.

At some point, people need to realize just how deeply embedded this culture of inequality is within the NFL.

Texans owner Bob McNair thinks player protests are like “inmates running the prison,” and Giants owner John Mara would rather re-sign a domestic abuser than deal with the “emotional mail” from fans over signing Colin Kaepernick.

Martha Ford of the Detroit Lions is one of the few female owners in the league, and even she tried to pay her players to stop kneeling earlier this season.

Shahid Khan of the Jacksonville Jaguars is the only person of color that's a majority NFL owner, but he gave $1 million dollars to support Donald Trump's inauguration.

If the people of color and women in the room can't be counted on to take up the fight against the other owners, then who can?

Well, Diddy and Steph Curry want to try.

The excerpt is from the middle of the article so you can see what a Putz the author is here. He doesn't see a problem with the ultraleft owners of the NFL, but with those who don't go along with them.

Shahid Khan is even a member of two politically correct groups (person of color, though not really, and Muslim) but gets rejected by this Putz because he is also an avid supporter of President Trump.

Khan is an American success story, but doesn't drink the leftist Kool-Aid. So that's a problem?

>>Khan is an American success story

And now he just butt-rapes the people of Jacksonville.

Eddie Debartolo is the popular choice to be the next owner. The NFL was much better with him in that fraternity. Problem is one only has to look up the incident with his middle finger.

The few women and “people of color” and other faiths do something against leftist orthodoxy, then there is something wrong!

These bastard commies always belie themselves - it’s ALWAYS about communism, NOT the aggrieved group.

The NFL has convoluted its rules into denying catches and touchdowns that are obvious.

Guy catches ball in field of play. Knees are on ground but no one has touched him. Ball breaks plane of goal line, which mean he has scored a touchdown. Afterward scoring touchdown (which ends a play) guy falls the rest of the way to ground and ball moves. Which doesn’t matter because play was over when the ball broke the plane of the end zone.

Also, the ground can’t cause a fumble as the play is dead the instant the ball touches the ground.

But NFL has a newer and stupid “continuation rule” which causes a reversal of an already scored touchdown because of ball movement after the play was over.

This kind of idiocy is part of why I stopped watching a few years back.

Replay was the beginning of the end.

Let the NFL go the path of the printed daily newspapers...

Yes, but did he make a “football type move”? LOL

What a joke the league is.

Index cards add distance for downs now too.

I have no love for Richardson, the Carolina Panthers or their ultra-tacky logo, colors and uniforms but I guess I have to remind all the hand-wringers and finger-waggers that the ‘charges’ against Richardson come exclusively from a single (dying) publication and a single article within that publication. The article and accusations in question are entirely, or almost entirely, based on - wait for it - ANONYMOUS SOURCES.

Do some of the stories have the ring of truth? Yes. Do they corroborate each other? Yes again. But to make matters worse many of the stories are second- and third-hand accounts or the lazy-but-insidious-and-categorical claim of ‘everyone knew about it.’

There is a very Trump-n-Russia quality to the hysteria and piling on that the media are doing now.

Is it mere coincidence that the Panthers are up for sale now? Possibly not but Richardson is 82 yrs old and I believe that he, his wife or both of them have had health issues. He’s already a wealthy man and will be wealthier still.

Let Diddy buy a team then watch his amazement that 1) most of his fanbase don’t give a &&*# about football and 2) those that do show up steal everything not bolted and welded down.

Am I missing something? If there wasn’t owners there wouldn’t be an NFL.

If there wasn’t Henry Ford, there wouldn’t be a Ford Motor Company.

Without Bill Gates, no Microsoft.

For some reason, the author assumes companies exist to do what he wants them to do.

I think Richardson selling is acknowledgement that NFL franchise values have peaked, and he knows it.

“Khan is an American success story, but doesn’t drink the leftist Kool-Aid.”

you mean the same owner of the Jags who blasted Trump and even allowed his players to kneel...and supported them? Next time get your facts straight. All you have to do is search FR or even Google for this clown and you’ll get tons of info on this muzzie lefty rag.

Remove the owner’s tax-free IRS loophole, as Trump has suggested.

I stopped right there.

The NFL is a business! They must please their customers to succeed, regardless of their employees' opinions of society.
