McCain returns to Arizona, won't vote on GOP tax bill: report
The Hill ^ | December 17, 2017 | Jacgueline Thomsen

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is returning to Arizona and will miss the final vote on his party’s tax bill this week, CBS News reported Sunday.

McCain, who has been hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center suffering from the side effects of his treatment for brain cancer, reportedly left Washington, D.C., on Sunday to return home for the holidays.

This means he will not be in D.C. for the GOP tax bill vote, which is expected to take place early in the week. Republicans have won over two key votes for the measure, meaning they should still have the razor-thin majority needed to pass the bill. The senator's daughter, Meghan McCain, tweeted shortly after the news broke that she and her family are "looking forward to spending Christmas together in Arizona."

"My father is doing well," she said.

The Hill has reached out to McCain’s office for comment.

Vice President Pence is delaying a trip to Israel in order to stay in Washington and ensure he can break a tie on the tax legislation vote if necessary. Republicans can only lose two votes and still have Pence act as tie-breaker.

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) agreed this week to vote for the final bill after opposing the Senate plan. And Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said he would support the bill after GOP leaders increased the child tax credit.

He can’t stay to vote? He could cap his worthless career with a good vote before dieing. However, he is still angry that President Trump is President and he isn’t. Also, he holds some sort of grudge that President Trump said he wan’t a “hero”. President Trump was right. What a dieing schmuck.

The end must be near for McCain.
Yet, he is so selfish he won’t resign.
He wants to take his Senate seat with
him.

A bitter man to the very end.

I’d comment negatively, but he may not even see Tuesday.

I suspect he wants to die in-state.

It’s hare for me to believe, but he didn’t think there would be a state funeral for him? He must know his standing better than I thought.

He’s that sick that he can’t hold on for the Tuesday vote? But he’s well enough to fly? Hmmmmm knowing McCain this is his passive-aggressive way of sticking it to Trump.

He should resign today so Governor Ducey can name a replacement ASAP. If he’s too sick to vote he should resign TODAY..

That's how I read this. For his family's sake, I hope he can hold on for another 10 days, so they can have one last Christmas together.

And to think, this is the same guy who suspended his campaign in 2008, during the Financial Crisis, to fly back to Washington DC, to do.........nothing.

If he just has days to live he should resign TODAY so his replacement can vote for the tax bill.

This is a scheme by malignant narcissist McCain to stab Trump in the back without having to vote against the tax bill.

If AZ wants to give him a State Funeral, that’s fine.

But Don’t be dragging his body back to DC for a State Funeral.
Would be an insult to tens of millions of conservatives.
