Final Tax Bill Contains Language Allowing Illegal Immigrants To Get Tax Credit

The Republican tax reform package agreed upon by House and Senate lawmakers contains language allowing illegal immigrants with American citizen children to get a tax credit.

The final GOP tax bill doubles the child tax credit from $1,000 to $2,000 and increases the amount of the refundable child tax credit to $1,400. This policy change geared towards helping working class families was pushed by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio.

The conference bill includes language from the Senate tax plan that allowed parents of so-called “anchor babies” to receive the tax credit.

“In order to receive the child tax credit (i.e., both the refundable and non-refundable portion), a taxpayer must include a Social Security number for each qualifying child for whom the credit is claimed on the tax return,” the bill states.

Jan Ting, a professor of law at Temple University, wrote an analysis recently about the Senate bill’s language.

“Because of birthright citizenship, any children born to illegal aliens become automatic U.S. citizens. Thus, illegal aliens can still receive billions of dollars in tax credits for their U.S.-born children,” Ting wrote in a post on the Center for Immigration Studies website.

Existing law allows taxpayers with a Taxpayer Identification Number to get a refundable tax credit, which many illegal immigrants reportedly have.

The original House Tax Cuts and Jobs Act included a reform that wouldn’t have allowed illegal immigrants to get the child tax credit. It said refundable credits are only available if the “taxpayer includes the taxpayer’s Social Security number on the return of tax for such taxable year.”

“The House bill requires a SSN in order to claim the child tax credit. Members will work to address this in conference to protect against fraud in this credit,” a House Ways and Means spokesperson told Breitbart News over a week before the conference bill was agreed upon.

President Trump is supportive of the final GOP tax bill, and a White House spokeswoman did not return a press inquiry Saturday about the provision helping illegal immigrants.

My thought exactly. Let’s make it clear to everybody that the IRS is going to be cooperating with ICE to identify possible lawbreakers and that any flagged return will NOT receive a refund.

Seems like a good opportunity to clarify the applicant’s willingness to carryout the policy set forth by the White House.

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, *and subject to the jurisdiction thereof*, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside...”

Hmmmm. Seems it’s not just the Socialist Left that can hold 2 conflicting statements in their mind as the truth.

It seems like from the article that they are anchor babies with invader parents. I oddly don't have trouble with this as long as the gov strives to remove invaders from the US. Why not? That money is good for local economies. Near slave-labor illegal employees will spend that money immediately.

The only caveat....somehow make damn sure they aren't sending the money to their homelands. Tracking that money just might be a real good way to get invaders out of the if DC swampthings wanted to do so.

The bill as proposed does NOT require the submitting party (i.e., the illegal alien parents) to have a SSN. It only requires the application to include the SSN of the anchor babies. Since they are “legal” under the perverse court readings of Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, there is nothing ICE will be able to do to the illegal parents if this bill as written now becomes law. It’s the Senate that removed the House requirement for the SUBMITTER (the illegal alien parents) to have and include a valid SSN. Specifically it was that bastard Rubio from Florida, the east coast california. This whole thing is a slap in the face to U.S. citizens and another income redistribution scam and entitlement to benefit non-Americans here illegally. I can hear them celebrating in my neighborhood already. Civil wars have been started for less. And you all are worried about impeaching this hypocrite sellout SOB?

I’m okay with sending them the tax credit to illegals, or even delivering it in person. Then arrest them, deport them, and charge them for the costs incurred - taking it out of the tax credit.

Have always detested rubio. Is there a form of loathing that is even worse I can advance to?

Just think how many fools supported this child and his run for presidency. Makes me sick to think about.

Grr isn’t strong enough but what can we do that is legal? We’ve tried everything that is.

Out of control and has been for a long time.

The Republic is dead and oligarchy lives on.

I was in Mongolia after this happened. The people were excited about the future and proud of their country. It was like the frontier, they had no rules telling them what to do. They rediscovered their heritage which in their case was Chingis Kahn and Buddhism.

We will rediscover our heritage also
