A robot patrolling a street in San Francisco to ward off homeless people has been removed after complaints from locals, who also knocked it over and smeared it with feces.
The Knightscope K5 security robot was deployed by the San Francisco branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to deter homeless people from sleeping and loitering near its building.

Handing out free fentanyl would be much cheaper and the bodies could be dumped in the nearby Bay. Sharks and crabs got to eat too.

That’s what added a extra giggle to the story for me - SPCA robot-enforcers taking on homeless people. It’s like an SNL skit, back when SNL was actually funny!
Didn’t one of these fall into a fountain in Dubai or some such a while back? Doesn’t sound very practical at all IMO.
Is this to be a story for a new ROBO Cop MOVIE? It sounds like it would be Real FUNNY.

I dunno, if one of these had strolled through my neighborhood when I was a kid, we’d have had it gutted and used for a futuristic go-kart within half an hour!
As a sideways note, I love that website. I visit it daily and it is amazing what is being built around the world.
This is so much better than people being cruel to homeless people, let robots harass them instead. < /s >
