Don’t give in to Trump’s tax scam, California. Let’s draft our own New Deal
Sacramento Bee ^ | December 13, 2017 | Sasha Abramsky

In the coming days, Republicans in Congress will try to stampede their tax bill through the reconciliation process and towards President Donald Trump’s desk for signing. If they manage this, it won’t be because reconciliation has made the House and Senate versions of the bill somehow fairer; there’s no way that two horrific versions of “reform” alchemically morph into something even halfway decent. To the contrary: if they steamroll this plunderous legislation through, it will be so that they can deliver tax breaks, at any cost, to the wealthy conservative donor class, and, equally important, so they can stick it to affluent blue states and their residents.

How would the over 50% of Californians who pay no income tax be affected by the tax bill? How would the 14 million Californians on Medi-Cal (Medicaid) be affected? Would be 5 million illegal aliens be hurt? The author teaches at UC Davis. She is part of the higher education scam in California that is bankrupting the state with high tuitions, high wages and high unfunded benefit packages.

If double standard deduction doesn’t cover state taxes, it is time to MOVE.

"...plunderous legislation..."

If double standard deduction doesn’t cover state taxes, it is time to MOVE.

As long as you don't move to a high property tax state (like TX, FL, etc.) and aren't paying a lot of out of pocket medical expenses (to include the monthly premiums). I see little way for retiree couples making less than $100k from avoiding a higher federal tax bill.

The issue—and there are serious issues with the various bills—is not because of President Trump but because of the “bedsheets” Byrd amendment requiring “reveune neutrality”.

Bedsheets Byrd is about to give many Americans a “blanket party” they’ll never forget.

Those types always act as if Republicans in Congress all got there some way other than being elected by Americans

The Taxifornia commies are worried about their ability to pay for their illegal welfare state. They cannot pay for it now and Moonbeam’s Sanctuary State is costing plenty which they translate into VOTES AND POWER and increasing debt. It is what DemocRATS do....

“There is a reason that residents of countries like Denmark or Norway tolerate high taxes. It isn’t because they have a particular Scandinavian gene that makes them immune from the frustrations they experience when a large part of their paycheck gets taken in the form of taxes. Rather, it’s because they clearly see the benefits they accrue as a result of the social investments such taxes facilitate.”

Norway relies heavily on revenue from green house gas producing North Sea oil.

We’re in the central coast of California and will retire in 10-12 years. To experience more personal freedom, I was thinking of moving to Texas but didn’t realize it was a high property tax state. Today somebody told me the opposite so thanks for the info. Maybe I’ll look at Nevada but damn, I will miss the coast.
