A woman who live-streamed herself and a trio of friends abusing a mentally disabled man and taunting him with racial insults was sentenced to probation Friday after spending nearly a year behind bars.
Brittany Covington, 19, had been held at the Cook County Jail without bond since January, when she and co-defendants Tesfaye Cooper, Jordan Hill and her 24-year-old sister Tanishia Covington were arrested on kidnapping and hate-crime charges.
The plea deal prosecutors made with Brittany Covington makes her the first of the four to be released, though she will remain on probation for four years and is barred from contact with Cooper and Hill.
Brittany Covington narrated Facebook Live video of the others tormenting the 18-year-old white man in the West Side apartment she shared with her sister.
The victim, a Crystal Lake man who had been classmates with Hill at a west suburban alternative high school, appears terror-stricken as he was taunted with racially-tinged insults — including calling him a supporter of then-President-elect Donald Trump. Hill and Cooper allegedly cut his clothing with a knife, punched and kicked him. In one Facebook video, the man was forced to drink water from a toilet bowl.

Can I offer a guess? A combined IQ of minus-10. The arrogant snarls on the faces of the two guys should add another 10 years to their sentences, if they get any (kidnapping & conspiracy to commit, assault and battery, false imprisonment as a lesser crime, hate crimes (oh, it’s Chicago - Blacks can’t commit hate crimes against whites - Ballerina Mayor Rahm Emanuel says so).
Let’s hope someone follows their sentencing and let’s us know what it was.

There’s no rhyme or reason to the justice system is there? Like a banana republic. Smh. I remember this case. Here I am thinking kidnapping, battery and assault charges would surely have carried a punishment of more than one year.
Hate crime laws were created to criminalize anything a White says or does, or doesn’t say or doesn’t do, and to set free non-Whites who physically assault Whites.

The headline is excusing the abuse.
A white retarded teen is NOT a “Trump supporter”. They’re excusing the violence by saying it is related to the kid’s politics.
It is a group of blacks who kidnapped the most vulnerable white boy they could find before torturing him, streaming it on social media for the edification and approval of their friends.
I only mentioned the Trump aspect to jog people's memories of the incident. I am sure most people here want to know what happened as this was a huge story at the time. And how someone involved in the crime got off ridiculously lightly.
I clicked into this thread to learn how one tortures someone on Facebook d;^). But it turns out, it’s the ordinary kind of torture after all. The only remarkable thing is that anyone could be so stupid.
