A group of prominent lawyers representing teachers and students from poor performing schools sued California on Tuesday, arguing that the state has done nothing about a high number of schoolchildren who do not know how to read.

They should start by giving the teachers literacy tests, but they won’t do that because they just want more money.
How can they not be reading? We’ve lowered standards and lowered standards and then lowered standards some more. After a while, when none of that worked, we lowered standards and lowered standards and even lowered them again.
How can they possibly not be reading?
I can always tell when a young customer service rep on the phone learned via “whole language.” They mangle my family name. It’s quite easy if you learned phonics. But very few can get it. And it really is not a challenging name — just two syllables.
I had a cool thing called parents when I grew up.
They taught me how to read.
I think some are still around.
Though they’re frowned upon.
i wonder what all of them are texting if they can’t read?
Ours is German. Nobody gets it right but other Germans.
My monthly is a decent amount.
I can think of FIFTY things i could use that money for.
But then i’ll still need money for the other 49. And a new 50th would pop up anyway.
And FR would eventually go under if everyone thought that way.

Government doesnt tax us in order to offer public services, ie public schools. Government offers public services in order to levy taxs upon us. Were from the government and were here to help you! What a bunch of hooey. Failure after failure after failure and taxes always go up.
Not really. Even children from Spanish-speaking families speak a pretty basic Spanish, more like an American high-school student than an educated adult from a Spanish-speaking country.
I know this because I can always talk with elementary-school kids or Mexican housewives in Spanish, but when I run into, say, a retired professor of French from the University of Bogota, all I can do is smile and nod and say, “Yes, Sir, you’re absolutely right!” “Por cierto, Senor, dice Usted la verdad!”
Now the phones and iPads have a voice-to-text option. You just talk into the microphone and it types the words for you.
They probably cant speak English either.
“ie” and “ei” is the tell for German names.
Ours is Southeast Holland / German then migrated via Cologne to Danzig.
Thank you, Jerry Brown and the Democrats! Your teachers are not teaching children how to read! How screwed up is that? You spend the highest amount on Education, more than any state per child, and you can’t produce any results!
Start with Oakland teachers
My great aunt, my grandmothers sister lived two blocks over when I was a kid she was a spinster and teacher. I read Sherlock Holmes before I went to first grade. Sugar rock candy is a heck of a motivator for a 6 year old boy.
If you are going to do voice to text and I assume you can do text to voice on the other end, isn’t that what the phone originally was without the text crap?
