A growing body of research concludes that rising global temperatures increase the risk of heat stress and stroke, decrease productivity and economic output, widen global wealth disparities, and can trigger greater violence.
Now a new study by researchers at Stanford, the University of California, Berkeley, and the U.S. Department of the Treasury suggests that even short periods of extreme heat can carry long-term consequences for children and their financial future. Specifically, heat waves during an individuals early childhood, including the period before birth, can affect his or her earnings three decades later, according to the paper, published on Monday in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Every day that temperatures rise above 32 ˚C, or just shy of 90 ˚F, from conception to the age of one is associated with a 0.1 percent decrease in average income at the age of 30.
The researchers dont directly tackle the tricky question of how higher temperatures translate to lower income, noting only that fetuses and infants are especially sensitive to hot temperatures because their thermoregulatory and sympathetic nervous systems are not fully developed.
The good news, at least for certain nations and demographic groups, is that air-conditioning nearly eliminates this observed effect, based on the authors' analysis of U.S. Census data that captures how air-conditioning penetration increased in U.S. counties over time. But that could point to one more way that rising global temperatures will disproportionally harm impoverished nations, or perhaps already have.

Liberalism, the ideology which brought us abortion, has murdered tens of millions of children.
Even if it were true, a few tenths of a degree in the world average temperature couldn’t begin to compete with that.
Children here are OK ,It’s Freezing ,no heat stress and stroke .LOL
Reminds me of the Calvin & Hobbes cartoon where he complains about it to his mom, and his mom replies, “this from a kid who wants to be chauffeured to anything more than a block away”...
Is this real or is it satire? This is so preposterous that it must be satire........
Anyone studying periods of THC/cannabis use in stages of life and earning?

Darwin was wrong
there is NO evolution. Thanks MIT for proving this
Not to mention causing male pattern baldness, patriarchal arrogance and an uptick in solar radiation.
I wonder how much the data is skewed by comparing wages in the Boston to DC corridor versus the south. People take a lot bigger pay cut than 0.1% to escape the taxes, high housing costs and weather of the northeast.
Well, since the world is cooling we don’t have to worry one bit. Let the good times roll!.
Now this could be all true. Look at the people in californicate compared to the colder states. This doesn’t explain Colorado though except for the fact californicates have taken over the state and brought their low IQ’s with them.
So, heat makes you poor.
Look at all those billionaire Eskimos.
Fixed it.

MIT is also the home of the insulting Obamacare guy-——the name escapes me.
