Players Coalition reportedly strikes $89 million deal with NFL team owners

Plagued by sagging ratings, player protests and fan outrage, the NFL has thrown a political Hail Mary by reportedly agreeing to dole out millions of dollars to two social justice groups connected to Democratic billionaire George Soros.

Under an agreement with the Players Coalition, NFL owners plan to funnel tens of millions of dollars to the Dream Corps, a leftist advocacy group led by former Obama adviser Van Jones and linked to Mr. Soros, which has called for saving the Clean Power Plan, cutting the prison population by half and providing “sanctuary for all.”

The $89 million, seven-year deal also carves out millions of dollars for the Players Coalition, according to ESPN, which has been advised by Soros-funded groups such as the Campaign for Fair Sentencing of Youth and the Center for American Progress, a leader of the anti-Trump “resistance.”

Hope people cancel their season tickets. Supporting the NFL is now donating directly to groups like Black Lies Matter.

Is this why we’ve been boycotting the NFL? To reward the assholes who caused the boycott in the first place? I don’t think so. Double down on the boycott!

This choice is a slap in the face to half the American people... what on earth was the NFL thinking? Sanctuary for all? OMG are they nuts?

This is just caving in to the Kneelers instead of showing them who owns and runs the teams.

However, If they were going to do something like this they should have set it up on the basis of matching funds for player contributions.

Provide just enough seed money to set up a charitable organization for tax purposes, then just match player contributions from then on.

No player contribution - no matching contribution from the teams.

Let the kneelers put their own money where their mouths are.

Tone deaf doesn’t begin to describe this. All the owners know how to do is pamper and pacify the malcontent players. More lost fans...

This has been a weird year...

And really not paying attention to football since Lombardi passed on, except the very occasional super bowl... and not owning any NFL stuff... it just strikes me as totally surreal.

I hope MLB doesn’t weird out too.
