Government watchdog group Common Cause has rescinded an award scheduled to be presented tonight to Arnold Schwarzenegger following an outcry over past sexual harassment allegations made against him.
The group was scheduled to honor the former California governor with the We the People Award for his work on gerrymandering reform at the awards dinner at LAs Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
In a statement, the organization said former Governor Schwarzenegger does not want to be a distraction to the ongoing important democracy work of Common Cause, adding he would not be attending tonights event and the organization would not be giving him the award.
Activists organized a MoveOn.org petition urging Common Cause to rescind the honor, describing Schwarzenegger as a serial harasser. The petition read in part, By honoring Arnold Common Cause is enabling harassers and silencing victims. Common Cause should instead help shed light on the widespread problem of sexual harassment.
In 2003, shortly before he was elected California governor, six women told the Los Angeles Times Schwarzenegger had groped and humiliated on film sets, in studio offices and elsewhere since the 1970s. Schwarzeneger denied the reports, but said he had sometimes behaved badly on film sets.

I pinched a girl in 4th grade.
I know it was wrong. I was immature and not thinking and I apologize.
I’ll let my boss know and hand in my resignation.
Ha Ha!
All the steroids Arnold took,
his package was a threat to nobody.
It’s just not safe anymore for anyone with a set.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: I Will Not Vote for the Republican Candidate for President
For the first time since I became a citizen in 1983, I will not vote for the Republican candidate for President, Schwarzenegger wrote.
He continued: But as proud as I am to label myself a Republican, there is one label that I hold above all else American. So I want to take a moment today to remind my fellow Republicans that it is not only acceptable to choose your country over your party it is your duty.
Schwarzenegger joins a chorus of prominent figures in politics and entertainment who are distancing themselves from Trump following the release of a tape from 2005 that shows him making extremely vulgar remarks about women with then-Access Hollywood host Billy Bush.
There goes your hope for that Senate seat!
Well, from my perspective, the only thing Arnold the Awful did as Governor that was “noteworthy,” was to knock up his Mexican maid!
They’re just discovering this now ? It’s been well known for decades.
ROFL!
They draw the line at knocking up the hired help.
yep, amazing how the hired help gets pregnant with his baby.
But as proud as I am to label myself a Republican, there is one label that I hold above all else American. So I want to take a moment today to remind my fellow Republicans that it is not only acceptable to choose your country over your party it is your duty.
That’s why we voted for Trump and dumped the usual GOP suspects from the ticket - because we had a duty to put our country over our party. How could you ever vote for Hillary and think you are voting in the best interest of America? How can you possibly defend that, Mr. Schwarzenegger? Also, explain to me what beliefs and principles make you proud to be a Republican, and how you think Trump doesn’t represent those principles and beliefs.
You’ve worked in an industry that abuses people in multiple different ways, including sexual harassment against women, men, and children, and you don’t refuse to go to the Academy Awards ceremonies - or call people in your industry out. You are acting like a Democrat with your selective indignation.
From mine, he proved he was a RINO phony who traded on his tough "Terminator-style" movie personas to fool a lot of naïve people to vote for him.
For me it was the first grade.
There was a girl named Ginger Lauber.
I gave her a peck on the cheek.
I would never dream of taking it back or apologizing for it.
Her brothers and mine asked me to stop it. I did.
I was a testy little fart even at that age. I thought they were full of it, but it seemed prudent being outnumbered like that.
My brother and dad came up with this little song with her name in it and teased me about it for months or years.
Even as an adult, I was curious about what happened to her in life. I looked her up one time and saw that she was married. I assumed she had kids and a good decent life. It was nice to think that.
At any rate, some things in life while inappropriate at 7 years of age, are not something to look back on and consider yourself wrong to have done it. I wasn’t aware it was wrong at the time, and I never regretted letting her know some little kid thought she was something special in the day.
Now that was Good
I regret not pinching more :)
It was still in the day when you wouldn’t get arrested at 10 for doing it :)
I keep wondering when will this end?
Or worse, yet, how far will this trickle down into society where just about anyone starts making accusations against anyone for any reason in the name of sexual harassment?
Is this some byproduct from the frustrations the left has over not being able to get rid of Trump? Or is there some other explanation why the left just keeps getting nuttier all the time?
When sexual harassment has run it’s course, what’s next?
Yes, we would have both been ex-cons by 11.
ROFLMAO!
And on the sex offender list for life!
