I think it has to do with the article the Chinese press published yesterday - then deleted but recovered from wayback cashe - calling CINC a failure and blaming him for NK probably at visiting zero’s request. If Rex couldn’t get that undone, he was out.
The NY Slimes aka Fake News seems to think Pompeo will take over State and Sen Tom Cotton will become head of the CIA.
Most of his appointments have been a disappointment to me. None of them have lived up to my expectations. Just more go along to get along. We voted for radical change and I haven’t seen it.

Kelly devised a plan to force Tillerson out and replace him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, according to the Times. Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., would reportedly be offered Pompeo’s current position.

I don’t like how Trump keeps pulling Senators and Represenatives out of Congress to fill his cabinet, putting aside all the special elections it causes, congress-critters seem to be only good at talk, not action (looking at Jeff Sessions).

I'm not a huge fan of Tillerson but I was thrilled to see him nominated because the other top names being discussed at the time included Mitt Romney and this A-hole Bolton.
