Temporary Restraining Order To Stop Trump's Pick For CFPB Is Denied

In a victory for the Trump White House, a temporary restraining order to halt the president's pick for acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFBP), Mick Mulvaney, was denied by a judge late Tuesday though the decision is likely to be appealed.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ruled in favor of Trump in his effort to appoint White House budget director Mulvaney to lead the bureau, the nation's top financial watchdog agency.

“Denying the president’s authority to appoint Mr. Mulvaney raises significant constitutional questions,” Kelly, a Trump nominee for the bench, said.

Former CFPB litigation counsel Deepak Gupta, who represented English, said the career civil servant would weigh her next step but added he didn’t think Kelly’s

The ruling comes after a nasty partisan spat that pitted the Trump administration against an Obama-era holdout to lead the bureau.

Leandra English was elevated to acting deputy director Friday when Richard Cordray, an Obama-appointee, resigned. The fight over who would lead the bureau bled into the weekend and on Sunday, English filed an emergency restraining order to keep Mulvaney from taking control.

Earlier Tuesday, Mulvaney instructed staff to “disregard” instructions from deputy director Leandra English and then tweeted a picture of himself working at a desk under the handle @CFPBDirector.

He also sent out an email reminding people to ignore any direction from English.

The practice of this, “agency” to levy fines and have them be diverted to non US Treasury slush funds in cahoots with the Justice Department needs to be audited for criminality!

The president should ask for Leandra English’s resignation.

This makes me so happy! Wonder what kind of corruption they will find. Every time these people throw such a hissy trying to block this Pres., they are trying to cover up something.

Not More Winning....

This is an example of how important it is to get Trump’s judicial appointments in place.

If we get good judges at the lower levels, the Supreme Court will have less power until Trump can fill those seats.

Which is probably why they are fighting this so hard. I'm surprised they 'let' the previous director leave.
